Once again class notes unfortunately begin with sad news. Harold J. Colton died recently in Milwaukee. The regretful report of Doc's passing arrived just as these notes were being mailed to Hanover. Additional information will be sought for next month.

Anybody want to buy a slice of Texas? From the Dallas News comes this report on one of our two Texas classmates:

Donald J. Tobin, well-known Dallas real estate broker and former president of W. A. Green's department store, has opened his own real estate firm - Tobin Realty Co. — at 211 North Ervay. The firm will specialize in business real estate with emphasis on business properties, land, buildings, leases and leasebacks. Since his retirement from W. A. Green's in November, 1956, Mr. Tobin has been real estate broker for the Moser Co. where he specialized in retail leasing. A native of Syracuse, N. Y., Mr. Tobin was graduated from Dartmouth College (what, no mention of 1922, hockey, soccer, natural business acumen, etc.?) before joining the Allied Department Store chain where he was employed in an executive capacity for seventeen years. Mr. Tobin has made extensive studies of tax laws regarding real estate contracts and is considered an expert in this field.

Yes, suh, that's classmate Pat and the best of luck to him.

Our other Texan classmate? None other, of course, than Rorick J. Cravens of Houston. A true native son, Jim was born in Houston when most of its citizens knew each other by their first names and the oil was just a trickle.

From the New York Times come the following excerpts of another distinguished Twoter.

Although George W. Weed retired two years ago as Peddie's track coach after three decades of service his fame at the Hightstown (N. J.) school has not dimmed. A few weeks ago, he received the Peddie Bowl for "distinguished service" to the school. Coaches with long years of service are commonplace at boarding schools but Weed's dedication to his athletes and his favorite sport made him a standout. During his tenure, Peddie squads won a dozen state titles. When Weed's physician ordered him to give up coaching two years ago, the Peddie coach said he would stick to a full classroom schedule in the school's mathematics department. But the old fire horse wasn't fooling anyone. He has been helping the present coach and can still press a mean thumb on any man's stop watch.

As Director of the Friends of the (Baker) Library, Prof. Herb West is achieving outstanding success. Reports from Hanover indicate that under Herb's direction and effort, rare books and manuscripts valued at $80,000 have been added to Baker during the first half of the current year.

Dr. Dick and Dot Stetson saw son George Allen Stetson married to Marilyn Dean at a September wedding in the Second Church in West Newton. Rev. Seymour St. John, headmaster of Choate School, performed the ceremony at which Richard P. Stetson Jr. was best man for his brother. Marilyn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Dean of Wellesley Hills, made her debut in Boston during the 1954-55 season. She graduated in 1954 from Dana Hall and in 1958 from Smith. George graduated in 1954 from Choate, attended Colby College, served with the Marine Corps, and is presently a student at Babson Institute of Business Administration.

How embarrassed can a guy get? Unexpectedly saw Larry Healy in Boston recently and did not recognize him until he disclosed his identity. Larry looks hale, hearty and all of age forty, when life used to begin.

A quartet of new addresses: Eugene Hotchkiss, 901 Baldwin Road, Highland Park, Ill.; Raymond L. Rambach, 45 Milk St., Room 703-4, Boston 9, Mass.; Donald Colpitts, 11 Euclid Ave., Summit, N. J.; Webster Garst, Rt. 3, Box 334, Bradenton, Fla. May they all find harmony at their new addresses.

Now don't go away mad just because all the scandal sent in doesn't appear this month. Some is being hung up to drip and dry for the next chapter.

Secretary, 46 Myrtle St. West Newton 65, Mass.
