Winter sports are not yet under way, but generally the outlook is favorable. Coach Doggie Julian lost All-East forward Rudy LaRusso and guard Dave Gavitt, but Captain Chuck Kaufman, Walt Sosnowski and George Ramming are back. The Indians will have a tough time retaining their Ivy League crown but must be regarded as having a good chance to repeat.

Hockey, likewise on the spot in regard to the Ivy League title, also may repeat. Rod Anderson, John Wadman and goal tender Dirk Frankenberg have graduated, but Coach Jeremiah has a good nucleus of returning lettermen in Captain Rusty Ingersoll, Ryan Osterbo, Mike Hollern, Bob Moore, Jake Haertl and goalie Tom Wahman. These men, plus some good reserves and sophomores, should be enough.

Coach Karl Michael has some problems which may make it difficult for the swimmers to match last year's fine 8-3 record. Gone are Captain Jack Daniels, Pete Anderson and Stu Summers, all outstanding competitors. Captain Tom Travis leads the returning sprinters, who include Al Hale, Dave Cook, Max Grumbacher, and Max Romonovsky. Glen Genelli heads the divers, but material is thin in the medley events, breaststroke and butterfly events.

Art Bookstrom and Jim De Long are two outstanding skiers returning under Coach Al Merrill, but from there on material is thin. It appears as though Dartmouth's ski fortunes would depend greatly on sophomores and reserves.

Squash has suffered heavily through the graduation of Red Hoehn's first five players, so this is a rebuilding year. Captain Marty Zipser leads the returning letter-men, who are Rick Skolnik, Hoby Millington, Sam French and Jake Herrick.

Coach Bill Craver is optimistic about his wrestling team and has a good nucleus at work. Captain Gred Graybeal at 157 pounds and Jay Crane at 167 are the outstanding veterans, with Hank Greer, Pete Herrick, Hank Gerfen and Ben Urban all competing for the heavyweight post.
