Class Reunion - the 10th Hanover, June 19, 20, 21
This is Winter Carnival weekend in Hanover as I write this and I guess, for a change, lack of snow is not a factor, according to the newspapers. I myself was in Hanover two weeks ago, and though there wasn't a great quantity there, it would have sufficed for the ice sculptures. My trip was on enrollment business, and I thoroughly enjoyed staying two nights with John and Joan Sweetland.
I'm not exactly overrun with news items this month, but I do have a couple:
On the personal side, I should report the wedding of Lou Kastenbein of Morristown, N. J., to Miss Elizabeth Vail Kinports of Spring Lake, N. J., on December 27. Lou is presently teaching at the Morristown School for Boys and doing graduate work at Fordham University.... Brud and Jane Becker of Westboro, Mass., announce the birth of Paul Avery Becker on January 17.
Into some vocational information... .Roger Mullen has recently been promoted to the rank o£ Lt. (s.g.). He is presently on the admiral's staff at Memphis, Tenn. Roger is a graduate of Annapolis and served aboard the USS Boxer off Korea. ... Bob "Rocket" Reed has been appointed Eastern Division marketing manager by Tidewater Oil.... John Stearns has been appointed secretary of the New York Stock Exchange. John was formerly with the law firm of Chadbourne Parke, Whiteside & Wolff in New York City.... Henry "Hank" Williams of Dalton, Mass., has been elected to the board of directors of the Berkshire Trust Co. of Pittsfield. Hank is the treasurer of E. D. Jones 8c Sons Co. in Pittsfield. This last item was sent me by Harry Johnson '04, secretary of his class. Thanks, Harry!!!....
A letter accompanying his Class Dues from George F. Day relates his recent plunges into the academic world. I have previously reported that George returned to Hanover last year to secure his degree (interrupted by family illness many years ago). Now he is at Harvard (winning a scholarship) working on his Master's in English and Education, and he hopes to go into the teaching profession.
This reminds me that dues are still trickling in, and I hasten to add that it's not too late for any of you delinquents to do your share in this, our biggest year of existence. Approximately 2/3 of the class have paid dues, which is excellent... but it should embarrass the 2/3 who haven't done their share.
From the address-changes list I get the following vocational news: Ray Bankert is a Traveling Auditor for General Electric in Schenectady... . Mike Marchese is with the American Embassy, with an APO out of New York.... Harm Saville is Assistant Plant Manager of Standard Brands Inc. in Indianapolis.
Little else of import to relate. Don't forgetthe big June dates - 19 to 21 - we're counting on you!!!!!
