February 19 was the date, the Hollywood Beach Hotel the place, the occasion, the kickoff dinner for the Capital Gifts Campaign in southern Florida! The combined membership of the Miami Club together with those of the Gold Coast Club (Fort Lauderdale) and the Palm Beach Club really got behind this project and made this meeting the largest gathering of the Dartmouth clan in the history of south Florida; 139 loyal Dartmouth men with their wives and a few parents enjoyed cocktails and a fine dinner before settling down to listen to a most enlightening and entertaining talk by Dean Arthur Jensen. The combination of the movie, The Dartmouth College Case of 1958, and the Dean's talk really put across the need for this campaign.

By the time you read this, the campaign will be about over and we are sure that Florida will carry its share of the money burden. All of us just have to get behind it and really push and push and push until the goal is made. General chairmen of the south Florida group, Charles Garnsey '20 and Dan Quilty '38, deserve a Wah Hoo Wah for getting behind this whole affair and helping to make it the big success that it was. Dean Jensen's able handling of a lively and spirited question and answer period following his talk was very helpful in settling a lot of doubts in our minds about specific needs for and uses of the money to be collected.

The first weekly report of the campaign is in now and looks quite encouraging but there is still plenty of work to be done. Let's go, Dartmouth in Florida!
