Last month veteran Dartmouth golf coach Tommy Keane reported in these columns that his 1959 team would be "very weak." This was borne out during the southern trip when the Big Green golfers lost all eight of their matches. The Indians bowed in the opener to the Quanthe University of Richmond by a 24-12 score. William and Mary blanked Dartmouth, 9-0, Washington and Lee won, 6-3, and then the University of Richmond won, 7½ to 4½. the match Navy shut out Dartmouth, 7-0.
Captain Nick Procino and Roger Bentley are the only veterans on the squad, while Hank Marcotte has returned after a year's absence and is helping somewhat. Otherwise the Indians have inexperienced sophomores and a few juniors making up the team, and the schedule looks rough.
