George Ostler was named assistant ski coach at Dartmouth in October. Ostler, a German, was a ski instructor at Mittenwald and Garmisch and a top alpine competitor. Most recently he has been teaching at the Dartmouth Skiway and the Okemo ski area in Ludlow, Vermont. He will coach the Big Green alpine squad and also conduct the physical education skiing recreation classes at the College.
Basketball star Rudy LaRusso '59 received the Raphel Johnson-Upsilon Award at the national convention of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity this past summer. LaRusso was the second draft choice of the Minneapolis Lakers in the National Basketball Association. He has been playing well with the Lakers and Coach Doggie Julian, who saw LaRusso in action at exhibition games against the Celtics, predicts that he will do well in professional ranks.
One hundred Dartmouth freshmen turned out in October to paint the Hanover High School bleachers and help clear the school's cross-country course. Cooperation between Hanover High and the College on the athletic side has been increasing to keep pace with the fine relations already established on the academic side.
