Willis C. Dunning died Thursday, Mar. 12, at his home in Bath Me., where he had been operating a market since his retirement from active business in 194;!.
Robert S. Dowst, a resident of Brooklyn, N. Y., died Mar. 20 at the Peekskill, N. Y., Hospital of pneumonia following a serious operation.
Barrow B. Lyons died of a heart attack April 5 at his home in Washington, D. C. Memorial services were held for Barrow, who was a former business editor of Newsweek and the New York World-Telegram, at the Cosmos Club Auditorium, 2170 Florida Ave. N.W., Washington, D. C., on Sunday April 19. He was an active member of both the Cosmos and National Press Clubs.
John Wallace Mahlstedt died at his home, 14 N. Walnut St., East Orange, N. J., April 20.
The Second International Symposium of the Myasthenia Gravis in conjunction with the meeting of the American Academy of Neurology was held in Los Angeles, Calif., April 18-19. Henry R. Viets, M.D., Chairman Emeritus of the National Medical Board, made the introductory remarks as a member of the Program Committee. Henry in conjunction with Dr. Robert S. Schwab presented a paper on the Fatigue Syndromes Suggesting Myasthenia Gravis and The Henry R. Viets Lecture was presented by Wilfred F.H.M. Mommaerts of Los Angeles.
Lyme Armes advised that Chris has fully recovered from her recent operation and was happy to answer all the phone inquiries of Dorothy and Henry Van Dyne and Libbyand Rollie Linscott in person when they phoned Lyme in Washington this spring from their winter retreat in Miami, Fla.
Katherine and Connie Snow and Gertrudeand Eddie Luitwieler sailed April 4 for a two weeks' trip to Bermuda; hope to get some of the high lights from them at our 47th Informal at Bonnie Oaks this month. In case you have not filled out Connie's question-naire for the 50th Year Book and forwarded it to him, why not do it now?
That reminds me, the job to be done by all Class Agents this spring is probably the most important in Dartmouth history, therefore we wish Eddie the very best of luck in his final drive this June ending the two-year combined Capital Gifts and Alumni Fund Campaign for the Class. June 30 is the dead line.
The funeral services for Kenneth H. Goss in the Fort Meyer Chapel and internment in Arlington National Cemetery was attended by Gertrude and Charles McCarthy, JosephMcCarthy, Warren Bruner, and Lyme Armes.
Ben Adams reported that he enjoyed a visit with Jim English and Jess Wilson '10 in Clearwater, Fla., this past winter.
Grace and Dr. Art Burnham dropped in to see the Earl Cuttings in Haddonfield, N. J., on their way south this year and if we are not misinformed the Cuttings will be at our 47th Informal at Lake Morey this June.
A testimonial dinner for Dr. Harold B. Belcher of 16 Ellwood Road, Melrose, Mass., retiring eighth treasurer of the 150-year-old American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions and Mrs. Belcher was held Monday evening Mar. 30 at Old South Church, Copley Square, Boston. The dinner commemorated Dr. Belcher's 45 years of service with the American Board overseas agency of the Congregational Christian Church and oldest missionary society in America. Loomis Patrick, Newton, president of the West Newton Cooperative Bank and chairman of the Prudential Committee, governing body of the American Board, presided.
