The activities of the DAAW, since our last report, have been several. Our annual meeting, held April 21 at Wulff's Island, was at: tended by an enthusiastic group of alumni and wives. Because of officers' two-year tenures, the only political note, other than the Treasurer's Report ("Pay your dues") and the President's Report ("Please pay your dues"), was the appointment of yours truly to fill the unexpired term of Pete Henderson '51, recently transferred to Cleveland, as Secretary of the Association. George Colton '35 represented Hanover and spoke "Comfortable Words — About Dartmouth," a questionprovoking discussion of many of the elements of the Hanover scene — from Scholarship to Construction to Enrollment - which are of active interest to alumni today.
Next on the calendar was the Giants-Braves baseball game, in June, which was attended by a small but rabid group of fans. Cocktails and dinner at the Boulevard Inn preceded a resounding but quite shoddily-played Braves victory over the slumping San Francisco team.
And last but, for those who attended, not least was our annual picnic, held August 20 on the shores of Pine Lake. Some sixty-plus alumni, undergraduates, wives, and dates showed up from as far away as Green Bay and Madison to join in the festivities. A simple fare of bratwurst, hamburgers, and beer (this last the courtesy of Schlitzman par excellence Pat Gorman '38) appeared to suffice in the quiet rain that followed several hours of swimming and water-skiing, and all departed, for their homes, we hope, well pleased with the day. We are indebted to Phil Mayer '55 and clan for making their most pleasant grounds, boat and bathhouse available to our group.
The Dartmouth Tomahawk, presented annually by the Long Island Dartmouth Club, at itsfamous Tomahawk Dinner, went this year to three well-known alumni: (l to r) Vince Turecamo '37, past president of the Long Island Club, Red Rolfe '31, the College's director ofathletics, and Harvey Hood '18, Trustee of the College.
