Fully 300 good-looking people gathered for the Annual Dinner of the Dartmouth Association of the Great Divide, held at the Denver Country Club ten days ago. We ate well, listened well, and a fair number of stalwart hedonists cavorted until the thin hours of morning to the measured strains of the mazurka.

Coach Bob Blackman and Assistant Secretary of the College, Michael McGean '49, were our honored guests and speakers. Their combined well-paced efforts brought us up-to-date on the curricular and extra-curricular activities of Dartmouth faculty and students, and we were pleased (and amused) to be assured that the gravity of world affairs has not entirely neutralized the eternal LOKI that strives for expression in many undergraduates.

Our two visitors were busy with interviews and exhortations, all relative to the activities of enrollment and I'm sure they breathed a sigh of relief when they were at last airborne again.

Our luncheon speaker for the month was Ben Williams, M.D., president of the local chapter of Planned Parenthood Inc. Dr. Williams gave us a survey of the knotty problems that have arisen from enthusiastic expression of the primordial urge, a few sobering statistics, and an inside view of the workings of an organization that is local and international in scope. Population increase can be found to be part of so many urgent and complex difficulties nowadays.

Next week, Ed Hunter '55 and his committee will again stage the Dartmouth Cup Ski Races at Winter Park. Fifty able high school skiers are entered in the races, which consist of negotiation of a giant slalom staked out on Lower Hughes. Snow has fallen throughout the mountains and it should be an exciting competition. Details next time.

The slate of officers of the Association was read out at the Annual Dinner by Neal Roberts '35. John Nelson '31 will replace Cal Fisher '32 as president. Bill Berge '45 takes over as vice president; Sey Wheelock '40 continues as secretary and controller of the graphic records. Albert Melcher '53 will function as assistant secretary, and Bob Priester '49 will hold the purse strings. Trustees are: Henry Buchtel '27, Edwin Grant '30, John Nelson '31, Sey Wheelock '40, Bill Wierman '43, Ed Hunter '55, Bob Fullerton '51.
