In case you sense a feeling of urgency in this month's column, you're absolutely correct. This is that time again - for all lovers of the academic arts to take their exams and cringe. Not wishing to reveal how desperate I really am, I'll now throw out a few paragraphs of news items, cut it off at that, and hope that next month is more productive.

Let's start with the nuptial department: Mary Ann Woody of Orange, N. J., recently became the bride of Archie Whitehead. Archie's a research manager with the New York management consultant firm of Witty-Polon. Also Marie Lyonne Bassin of New Iberia, La., and Navy Ensign Jerry Amos took their vows of late.

Engaged we find: John Quinton and Mary Tatem of New York. They plan a June wedding. Likewise with Ed Caress and Virginia Fonda of Ruxton, Md. Mike Nevins, in his third year at Tufts Medical School, reportedly plans to desert that rapidly depleting association of '58 bachelors. Although I personally deplore all such foolhardy activity among '58's, I'm quite sure that Mike doesn't. His fiancee is Phyllis Brower of Teaneck, N.J.

A few more items include: Reports that Marine First Lieutenant Walt Fogarty attained recognition as an honor student in his graduating class in the Third U.S. Marine aerial observation course in the Far East. Mike Goelet's serving as a pilot with Marine Attack Squadron 331 in Beaufort, S. C. Dave Rice and his wife Nancy are living in Norfolk, Va., where Dave's attending the Naval Amphibious School. Navy Lt. Pete Crane, along with wife Susan, are living at Moffett Field, Calif., where Pete's serving with Fighter Squadron 124. Bob Buffington's serving in Korea as a clerk typist in an artillery battery.

Bob McGuire is now in his second year at the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies in Washington, D. C. He's specializing in Soviet affairs as he works for his Master's degree. Out of that morass known as law school comes word from a few more emerging barristers, to wit: Bob Eleveld and Phil Wood. Phil's in his first year at Michigan Law School after having served two years in the Navy. Bob is in his third year at the same mental institution, and tells me he's going to take a big break from the grind to see just how big those ski slopes are at Aspen. See you there, Robert.

Before grinding to a halt here, let me offer belated greetings to a few to whom my corresponding secretary is indebted, to wit: Nan and Puffy Stoddart, Mitch, Skipand Lona Louis, big ski-bum Walt Yusen,Pete and Judi Van, Kim, John, and newborn Stephen John, Whiteley, and many, many more who have entertained and informed me so well during the past year. It's a pleasure to do business with you.
