I seem to have shot my wad completely in last month's column. As a result, this month's sheet will be minute by comparison. Before proceeding with what news I do have, let me explain some of the basic changes in class policy regarding news and material to be printed in both this column and in the Sound and Fury. Newsletter Editor Line Mitchell dropped into Denver for a stay awhile back, revived an old liver ailment and at the same time we agreed on what news was fit to print. Basically the ALUM MAGAZINE column will continue to handle all the vital statistics on a month-to-month basis as well as the shorter items concerning activities, jobs, military service, etc. All the longer articles which you might like described in greater detail will henceforth be handled in the newsletter. If you wish, a few brief remarks may be made in this column concerning any newsworthy item and then sent along to Mitch who will censor and interpret in accordance with Sound and Fury tradition.

Speaking of Mitch, that erstwhile purveyor of news and scandals, is now at Stanford, completing his third and final year in law school. While he was in Denver preparing himself for those long winter months of agony ahead, we managed a trip to Boulder and the abode of Jim and Dief Preston. A month or two back they traded in a whole litter of sundry puppies for a new model to-wit: James Burton Preston Ir. I don't really want to say it but this little guy has more hair than Sleeps ... better looking too.

Well, let's roll on ... only two new recent weddings to report: Married on August 19 were Kent Woodger and Julia Bryant of Duxbury, Mass. After a Bermuda honeymoon, the couple moved to their present home in Charlotte, N. C. Now living in Parris Island, S. C., are Marine Ist Lt. Jerry Garbacz and his wife, the former Jane Elizabeth Snyder. They were married July 1 in the Navy Chapel in Washington, D. C.

From La Crosse, Wis., comes the news that Jim Johnson has joined the publicity department of The Trane Co., makers of air conditioning, heating, and ventilating equipment for industrial, commercial and residential systems. Before joining Trane, Jim worked for Twin City Suburban News- papers and prior to that was on the staff of a lumber trade magazine. He is a member of Sigma Delta Chi, the professional journalism fraternity.

I'll wind up this month giving you a little idea of the number of students we still have among us: Law students include FredKosmo at Stanford and Skip Louis at Yale; Med students include Tim Doty at Tulane and Bob Rudolph at Penn; those doing grad work in unknown fields are Dick Saez at Yale, Doug Smith at Wisconsin and AlexEvarts at Vermont.

As you can see, I was a little hard up for news this month. If you don't want the newsletter and this column to fold, keep Mitch and me informed. You have nothing to lose but your reputations and four cents.
