Labor Day weekend brought the first snow of the season to the Rocky Mountains and with it the awful realization that I had forgotten my deadline for the class column. I now find myself at the typewriter attempting to jot down a few items that might interest you out there. Before I get to the facts, let me again remind you that your personal news items form the integral part of this column; therefore, I urge you to write long and often during the year.

At the outset, marriage appears to have become a popular '5B institution these past few months. I had the honor to usher at the wedding of Dave Weber and Sandy Luce in Fairbury, Neb., in early August. Dave has completed his tenure with the Marines and has returned to Hanover to finish up at Tuck. Bob Eleveld, who was Dave's best man, took the massive step about two weeks earlier when he married Lynn Keister in Grand Rapids, Mich. Bob's just finished Michigan Law School and he and Lynn were sort of priming for the Michigan bar exam while in Fairbury. Members of their wed- ding party included Larry Scoville, just out of Michigan Law School, and John Jones.

I heard from Larry Weltin the other day. It appears that he and Feriba Berry of Wilmington, N. C., were married in June and that Welts is starting Journalism School at Missouri University this fall. Groomsmen included Russ Leslie and Frank Blatz. Other weddings of the past several months include that of Joel Potash and June Calender in Boston. A fellow barrister, Ron Snow and Mary Ellen Holopainen were married in July. Ron is just out of Yale Law School and is working in Concord, N. H., for the law firm of Orr and Reno.

Married in June were Mike Nevins and Phyllis Brower. Mike is completing his fourth year at Tufts Medical School in Boston. Entering the Rhode Island School of Design this fall is Stu Rice who married Caroline Barrows of New London, Conn., this summer. Dave Johns and Ann McClelland of Shaker Heights, Ohio, became man and wife in a July ceremony. Dave and Ann are now living in Chicago while Dave completes work on his Ph.D. in political science at the University of Chicago. Married in June were Dick Fries and Georgina Blake of Somers Point, N. J. Dick's with the Pittsburgh office of Cluitt Peabody and Co. Lowell Wilder and Marcia Smith of Darien, Conn., were married in July in New York City. Lowell's a senior at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia.

Engagements include that of AI Squitieri and Maria Anna Benassi of St. Louis. Al is a senior at the St. Louis Univ. School of Medicine. A fall wedding is planned for John Diggs and Josephine Eckert. John is presently a Navy Lt. j.g. serving with a helicopter anti-sub squadron aboard the carrier "USS Wasp."

For the first time since graduation we have news about Paul Stewart. He has joined the staff of Sports Illustrated as a reporter in the fashion department, working directly with the Sporting Look and Travel Editor and specializing in men's wear. Paul was previously an assistant buyer of men's clothing and sportswear for Bloomingdale in New York City, and prior to that had been a city hall news reporter for the Bergen Record in Hackensack, N. J. He and his wife Olga are living in Forest Hills, N. Y.

Following is a mess of other dope you might find of interest. Bob Timothy got his M.D. from Harvard in June. Barry Stompe recently finished a fourteen-month course at Rutgers Business School where he specialized in public accounting. Recent graduates from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy include Bill Cutcliffe who received a Master of Science with Major in Geology and Don Page, a Ph.D. recipient. In the field of theology, Dale Sarles, a graduate from the General Theological Seminary in New York City, was recently ordained a deacon of the Episcopal Church. He has been appointed by the National Council of the church as a missionary at St. Barnabas' Mission in the Alaskan Indian village of Minto. We wish him luck in this venture. Dave Glendinning, a graduate of the Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, was ordained in June to the Episcopal Church in Danvers, Mass. He has been assigned to Trinity Church in Portland, Me.

Thanks to Larry Weltin, I have a bit more info to pass on. Flying helicopters while stationed at New River Marine Corps Base, N. C., are John Otis and Don Maurer. TedFurber's still in the Marines at Camp Lejeune, N. C. Bob Gilges is at Little Creek, Va., with the Navy and incidentally recently became the father of twin girls. Pete Hawes is now out of the Marines and was still in New York with an investment firm when last heard from. Stu Gord's now out of the Navy and is going to Harvard Business School this fall. Phil Bell returns to Tuck School this fall after mustering out of the Marines. Russ Leslie finishes Med School at Pittsburgh this year.

Bob Fosse was ordained in June to the Sacred Order of Deacons of the Episcopal Church and is now serving as Curate of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Evanston, Ill. Bob was graduated from the Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven, Conn., just prior to his ordination. He and Margaret, together with their son, Robert E. Fosse Jr., who is now one, have taken up residence at 2200 Lincoln St., Evanston, Ill.

Frank Blatz, now out of the Marine Corps, starts at Harvard Law School this fall. Puffy Stoddart will give it all he has at Michigan Law School. With some assistance from Nan and by grace of divine providence, he may make it some day. Incidentally, as if by some miracle wrought, JoeBlake and I somehow managed to hoodwink the administration into giving us LL.B. degrees from the University of Colorado in June. Whether or not the state of Colorado will ever let us practice law remains to be seen when we receive results of the recent bar exam. Two other fledgling barristers include Phil Berke, who graduated from Cornell Law School, and Dave Stevens, who received his sheepskin from Indiana Law School.

Before I leave, permit me to announce that the stork graced the Don Shagrin family with a son, Scott Marshall on July 14 and the Pete Durno clan with another Big Green potential, Geoffrey Hawkins, on July 16. Skip Coggin is Geoffrey's godfather. Best wishes of the class to Scott and Geoffrey and parents.

Dartmouth alumni attending the Episcopal Seminary, Richmond, Va., last yearwere Skip Traynham '57 (left) and KenTabor '6O. Traynham is now at St. JamesEpiscopal Church in Baltimore, whileTabor will complete his degree in 1963.
