The Christmas spirit invaded the School strongly as the recess approached. On the night before vacation began, the students, supported by student nurses, some sixty strong, dispensed carols at the homes of various faculty members in a continuation of the annual custom initiated several years ago. The girls in the office caught the festive spirit and produced a Christmas tree, complete with decorations, to dress up the lobby of our new offices. Added to these features, greetings from many alumni made it a real Christmas season.
The first annual lecture of the Ralph E. Miller Memorial Lectureship in Pathology was delivered on December 16 by Doctor Arthur T. Hertig, the Shattuck Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School, on "The Pathogenesis of Uterine Carcinoma." This lecture, made possible by the anonymous gift of a former student to perpetuate the memory of Doctor Miller, is to be an annual event, and this first occasion was made more memorable by the attendance of his wife and son.
