Now and again one of us has the opportunity to have a part in the onward development of the College. The latest among us to do so is Jack Smith, our swimming captain, who designed the new swimming pool in the East wing of Alumni Gymnasium.

In June Dick Allen was honored by National Life Insurance Co., Burlington, Vt., for 25 years of service. Roy Adams has been elected vice president of American Felt Cos. and Don Andrus has been appointed purchasing agent for the Plastics and Resins Division of American Cyanimid Cos., Wallingford, Conn.

The Carborundum Cos. has as its assist- ant controller Bill Ferguson, who headed the company’s electronic data processing divi- sion since its inception in 1955.

The Pete Fitzherberts, who are the dyna- mos which keep the class running, will have a foreign exchange student living with them this winter. Besides their activities in our behalf they are active in community affairs. In fact, they are a busy family. Note the following from Lewiston-Auburn (Me.) Journal:

Mrs. Fitzherbert is vice president of the Auburn Art Club, a member of the Young Women’s Christian Association, the Central Maine General Hospital Woman’s Association, director of the Lewiston-Auburn Children’s Home, director of the Edward Little High School Alumni Associa- tion, and secretary-treasurer of her class at Bates College.

Mr. Fitzherbert, who is vice president of the Dunlap Agency, is currently in the middle of rehearsals for the forthcoming production of "South Pacific’’ to be presented by the Community Little Theater Association. A graduate of Dart- mouth College, he is a member of the Auburn- Lewiston Kiwanis Club.

Nancy, 16, is a sophomore at Edward Little High School, where she is a member of the Bi- ology Club and the Pep Club, and on the staff of the school paper. She also belongs to the Young People’s Fellowship of the High Street Congregational Church. She has an avid interest in all types of sports and enjoys skating, skiing, swimming and water skiing. She also likes to sew and makes many of her own clothes.

Tommie, aged 7, is in the first grade at Mer- rill Hill School. He has many interests, and is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the foreign stu- dent, so he can show her his school.

Another son, Anthony is a member of the freshman class at Hobart College in Geneva, N. Y., where he is majoring in economics.

Besides running Avco, Kendrick Wilson is special gifts chairman of the Eastchester, N. Y., Community Fund Campaign. DonErion has been elected vice president of J. F. McElwain Cos. and Bill Niss, vice pres- ident of Bath Iron Works, was the featured speaker not too long ago at the Western Maine Industrial Management Club meet- ing. His topic: “What Top Management Ex- pects of a Supervisor.”

It is always a joy to know of the successes and accolades which come to children of class members. When the honors come in connection with Dartmouth the pleasure is all the greater. Doris and Bill Crangle’s daughter, Cathy, was “Green Key Sweet- heart” last spring.

Bob Prentice of Lever Bros, was one of the originators of a study of “Coupon Promotions” completed this year under aus- pices of the Association of National Adver- tisers Sales Promotion Committee.
