After just completing a move from St. Clair Shores, Mich., to Birmingham, Mich., time is short and so is the column.

There are no engagements to report this month and only one wedding, that of Douglas Fusoni to Judith Elizabeth Scaggs in Albemarle, N.C. Judy is teaching in Abington, Pa., this year and Doug is a fourth year medical student at Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia.

Joseph M. Stone has been named Administrator of the Placid Memorial Hospital in Lake Placid, N.Y. Joe received his Master's Degree in Hospital Administration at the University of Michigan in 1960 and spent the last two years in the Evanston Hospital Association in Evanston, Ill., prior to accepting his present position.

Colin Norberg recently won first-place honors, and a prize of $250, in the 1962 Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition at Boston University School of Law. His winning paper was entitled "The Equitable Right of an Accounting for Infringement of Copyright." The competition is sponsored annually by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. Colin is a BU Law School graduate and is presently with the law firm of James W. Doherty, Esq. in Laconia, N.H. He is married to the former Susan Poling of Hanover and has one child.

Bob Rudolph writes that after graduation from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School this past June, he is currently interning at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and plans to start a residency in internal medicine at the University Hospital of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor next year. He frequently sees his old roommate, Bob Rapp, who is in his third year at the Hahnemann Medical School. He says Bob is enjoying a good life with his lovely wife, Judy. Bob also reports that Lowell Wilder is now interning at the University of Pittsburgh Hospital after his graduation from the Hahnemann Medical School in June of this year.

Michael G. Wygant wrote from Washington in October to tell of his new assignment in Nairobi, Kenya, as Vice-Consul to the American Consulate-General in Nairobi. Mike and his wife, Lee, and 16-month-old daughter, Heather, left for two years' duty abroad in November.

In a recent edition of The Detroit News, Henry Hof was written up, along with some other members of a group now getting their Peace Corps training for duty in Colombia. Some of their training consisted of actual work in the slum areas of New York City. John F. Murphy Jr. and Ross M. Burkhardt left for Tunisia this past August as members of the Peace Corps. They spent three months, this past summer, at Indiana University preparing for this tour of duty. In a newsletter to the local paper in Central Valley, N.Y., Ross gave a blow-by-blow description of his early impressions during the first few days in Tunisia. The following excerpt from one of the paragraphs in his newsletter quite vividly describes what may be a rather trying, if not uncomfortable, couple of years ahead in a foreign land. "Life is not always pleasant, as we have no hot water, and the quality of showers and shaves suffers accordingly. My laundry is piling up undone. Half the group has contracted mysterious ailments. Plans and schedules have often disintegrated. We have our frustrations in trying to communicate with the Tunisians." He goes on to tell about a so-called short trip to one of the supposedly local points of interest. On boarding the bus with nothing but bathing suits for an expected swim that afternoon, they shortly found out some unexpected news that, rather than going to see three different sights in this nearby town, they were going on a three-day trip to many towns. That invaluable training back on Hanover Plain of being able to "grub it" in the same clothes for days on end must be coming in quite handy.

John Stanford Edwards was recently appointed to the Drama Faculty at Christian College in Columbia, Mo. Rev. James W. Crawford was recently welcomed as the new pastor of the First Federated Church of Bayonne, N.J.

In the business world, we now find Robert C. Gebhardt, President of the Colorado Logging Company in Tahoe City, Calif. Jeff Flood is working for the Continental Grain Co. as a Grain Trader in Fort Worth, Tex. In St. Paul, Minn., Robert E. Pendergast Jr. is an engineering geologist with the Twin City Testing Lab. Don Brenner is a vice-president with the Air-Pilot Oil Co. of Secaucus, N.J.

Here in Detroit a number of '58's are doing their share to stimulate the economy and defend the country. In the recent call-up of Air Force Air Transport Divisions, LarryScoville was tapped by Uncle Sam and forced to give up for a year a fine start in his law career. As his present duty station is at Selfridge A.F.B. in Michigan, he and Lynn are still able to live at their home in Grosse Pointe. Pete Durno is now a credit analyst at the National Bank of Detroit. He and Ellie and their son Jeoff have recently moved to a new home in Grosse Pointe.

Out in St. Clair Shores, Mich., we find Bill Caley, wife Anne, and sons Bill and Brian. Bill is now assistant manager at one of Detroit's largest Kresge stores. Joe Kabat is managing the Michigan division of his father's floor covering business. Jo and I have recently become neighbors of Joe and Mary Beth in Birmingham. Also living in Birmingham are Brad and Pat Hubert and their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Linda. Brad is in industrial advertising with his dad's firm in Detroit.

Present at Milwaukee's North Hills Country Club to congratulate Larrie Calvert'57 and Gretchen Hulquist (Smith) on their marriage were (I to r) Mike King '57,Athan Mertis '57, John Brennan '57, Ken Rakouska '57, Charles Maschal '57, brideand groom, Don Hummel '55, Bob Slaughter '57, Ned Bixby '57, and Herb Ellis '57.
