OCTOBER 1963 ALBERT E. SMITH, JOHN P. WADHAM

We are reminded by the Magazine Office that our classification as an "Old Guard" class requires us to limit these Notes to 500 words or less and furthermore "if you run short now and then you can be sure that the space will be a gift second only to your annual contribution to the Alumni Fund."

The names of those in the photograph of the class in the July Magazine were, from left to right; standing in the rear row, E. L. Brown, Forrest Hall and grandson, M. R. Brown, Pray Wadham, George Ford, Ag Smith, William Watson, Carl Worthen, A. J. Cohen, John McElroy and E. H. Kenerson; seated in the front row, Mesdames E. L. Brown, M. R. Brown, A. E. Smith, A. J. Cohen, Craig Thorne and Proctor (daughters of John McElroy), E. H. Kenerson. Mrs. Wadham was with us at the reunion but missed the picture. Leigh Kimball and family also attended but had to leave for home before the class luncheon.

A welcome letter was received from Elizabeth Erwin Thomas with best wishes from the family of Clayton Erwin. OmarSwenson wrote that he was sorry he could not be with us. Comstock wrote of the death of his wife Maude, July 24. He plans to move shortly to California to be near his daughter, their only child. I will advise you of his new address when he sends it. Two letters from Alton Pratt. Alton has moved to be with his wife Louisa with a new address, Island Terrace Nursing Home, Long Point Road, Lakeville, Mass. Dick Brown wrote of a very pleasant visit with Alton. Doctor Kelley sent his best wishes from California and regrets he could not make the reunion.

I am sorry to have taken so long to report the death last March of Mrs. Pip Howard in St. Petersburg, Fla. The sad news reached me through Ned Kenerson too late to get in the June Notes. You will find Memorial notice of the death of GeorgeGage, June 17 last. He was at our fifty fifth reunion and in the words of AndyJackson, "O.K. and a real guy."

You have long since received Special Report of the good work you did in the Alumni Fund Campaign - you should be proud of the results of your efforts and those of relatives and friends of the class. In this connection, Ned Kenerson of the Bequest and Estate Planning Program has been over his files and searched his past records with these outstanding results. In the sixty years out of College our members past and present have contributed in gifts, memorials, alumni funds, etc., a total of $1,464,000. This is certainly a wonderful showing and gives a class individual average hard to equal.

My very humble apology to Dave Bradley,Capt. H. L. Kelley and Edwin A. Daniels, for omitting their names from the list of contributors to the Alumni Fund in my special report of August 23. I promise not to do it again.

Just received word of the death of Dr.Arthur Noyes, Aug. 21 at Norristown, Pa.

It's a hard job to count up to 500 words so will stop now and hope I have kept within the "Old Guard" limit.
