The lovely picture shown above presents our Tom and Ruth Streeter with their three sons and their wives, and a daughter and her husband, and a few of the grandchildren who gathered at the Streeter home in Morristown, N. J., to help Dad and Grandpa celebrate his eightieth birthday on July 20, 1963. Happily too, every member of Dartmouth 1904 was present in spirit having sent to the Octogenarian and Sage birthday greetings and best wishes, together with their sincere appreciation for the sixty years which Tom has served as class treasurer. His son, Thomas Jr., Class 1944, presented to his father the pewter bowl, suitably engraved, as a gift from 1904. Tom inherited the right to be a Dartmouth man. His father, Frank S. Streeter was of the class of 1874 and an honorary member of 1904, and a trustee of Dartmouth College for thirty years, from 1892 to 1922. Tom's grandfather, Alonzo P. Carpenter, received an Honorary Degree from Dartmouth in 1896 and his great-great-grandfather, David Goodall, graduated with the class of 1777.
Tom of the class of 1904 also received the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters from Dartmouth in 1946. The Secretary refers you to the 50th Reunion report for the career of this grand old man. Graduate of Harvard Law School - lawyer, banker, author, historian, trustee - a busy man at eighty, blessed with an equally busy and able helpmate, his wife Ruth, who, during World War II was Director of the Women's Marine Corps Reserve with the rank of Colonel, and too, formerly the President of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America.
This is not a valedictory to Tom, rather it is a tribute to him from his classmates, who hold him in deep affection and are justly proud of his accomplishments. A salute to a man with a heart as big as his lovely family, "Beloved by all and all discerning in law, in finance and in learning."
1904 Won the Green Derby. Classes of 1903 to 1912 were in the contest with $4,430.81 contributed by the class with 303% of its rating for the class. Thanks, boys and girls, and a salute to our class agent, Squid Lampee.

Paste this date in your hat! June 1964 — 60th Reunion. Leon Webster will be Chairman of the Committee. Save a few bucks out of your Social Security check toward your travel expense: Have a visit with Eleazar Wheelock.
Your Secretary deeply regrets to add this bit of news which came just as his notes had been forwarded to Hanover. A telegram from Robbie reporting the death of our beloved classmate, Carl F. Woods, on August 26, 1963. While Carl had been ill for a long time his courage and optimism had led us to hope he might be with us next June 12-14.
The sympathy and respects of the class have been expressed to Marion, his devoted wife. In the November issue of the MAGAZINE there will be an obituary of Carl. Classmates are referred to the 50th reunion class report for a full and detailed account of his career. Dartmouth College has lost one of its most generous, devoted, and active workers, and classmates have lost one of their best beloved members whose friendship we all shared and whose memory we shall always cherish.
