NOVEMBER 1963 HARRY W. SAVAGE M'27

Set aside Saturday, May 30, 1964 now! That is the date scheduled for the next big meeting of the Nathan Smith Medical Society. The feature attraction will be the dedication of the Rolf C. Syvertsen Memorial Room in Strasenburgh Hall, but the session will include basic science in the morning, a clinical program in the afternoon, and gala social gatherings at noon and in the evening. This date combines the beautiful spring in Hanover with a holiday weekend, when a lack of conflicting events assures ample accommodations. Plan to be here. Watch this column and your mail for details.

On October 20, the Robert E. Quinn Memorial Room in the Charles A. Dana Biomedical Library is to be dedicated. You will remember that Bob Quinn s55M, and later a member of the faculty, was with RalphMiller M'26 on that disastrous flight. The Library itself was dedicated on October 11 and is already receiving heavy use.

The DOC Chubbers of former years will be happy to know that their old influence at the School has been maintained, and now has been augmented by the formation of a DMS Mountain Climbing Club under the direction of Associate Dean Phil Nice. In addition to misguided faculty members and medical students who have been misled into joining, occasional alumni, e.g. PaulRaslavicuis M'5B and Pete Spiegel M'59, have been reported as participating in this type of folly!

Bob and Nancy Joy M'49, still in Pediatrics in Danbury, Conn., in spite of rumors to the contrary, visited us recently. Howie Green M'57 has returned to Hanover after his Navy stint and is once more enrolled in DMS as a resident in Medicine. Bill Gallagher M'58, after learning to fight a bull (he could always toss it) in Spain while on a midshipman's cruise, will leave the Naval Academy in July to return to Boston and the MGH in dermatology. Bob Yogel M'58 is reported at Little Creek, Va., doing his military service. Paul Tschetter M'58 is now doing private pediatrics in Denver. Bill Thomas M'59 has left Rochester to work in Orthopedics at the Children's Hospital in Boston. Marty and Anne Carter M'59 (she is the twin of Jack Babson M'63) use the Philadelphia General Hospital as a base for their operations in the USPHS. The Gary Korenmans M'60, now in the Army, took advantage of a few days off to inspect the School. Lenny Skerker M'62 also favored us with a recent visit. Jack Kersey M'62, assigned to study in Sweden, surprised us with a card from Russia where he was touring between assignments. Jack would!!
