New Addresses: L. Cleveland Amidon, vice president, Vernon Court Junior College, Newport, R. 1., 56 Merton Road, Newport, R. I.; Elisha F. Winslow, 400 Davisville Road, East Falmouth, Mass. 02536.
News is scarce this month, but no news is good news on the memoriam front, except for the death of Jack Childs '09 on Oct. 4.
Thelma Lyon, Harry's widow, wishes to thank the class for the gifts toward the memorial flagpole for Harry. Present plans are to have the flagpole erected on the common in the village of Paris and dedicated on Memorial Day of next year. Harry was active in the American Legion and Thelma in the Auxiliary.
Lish Winslow reports that very few bluefish have been caught near Falmouth this year, a few scallops but no oysters.
When in Hanover for the Holy Cross game your editor left at the Baker Library the picture given by Edward Bartlett of the class in graduation costume, on which many of the class at the reunion assisted in identification; and two class pictures presented by John Thompson, one of freshman year where we managed to elude the sophomores and have the class picture taken in the Vale of Tempe and the other at our 20th reunion.
We received a nice letter of appreciation from Mr. Lathem, the librarian: "The identifications which you provide for the photographs are, of course, wonderfully useful and important. It was fine of you to go to such pains for our interest."
He adds that the College Archives have a great interest in securing memorabilia and papers relating to Dartmouth's past. In addition to keepsakes and mementos the Archives is particularly desirous of securing undergraduate letters written from Hanover which not only contain information, not otherwise preserved, but are significant in recording impressions of individuals and events.
Your editor has in the past taken memorabilia of our college days to the Library which has been gratefully received and urges all, especially class widows, who have Dartmouth books, especially memo-books, and other records, to arrange for the shipments to the Library when no longer wanted, and suggests, as he has done, that provisions be made in wills for such bestowal.
