JUNE 1963 ALBERT E. SMITH

By reason of necessary printing deadlines required for getting material to the MAGAZINE Staff Office, and which I think I tried to explain last fall, X am afraid that very little can be said now about our June reunion. When you get this you either have been or haven't made it to Hanover.

There still is time however to talk a bit about the Alumni Fund Campaign - I think it continues through June 30. As class fund agent I have been receiving reports of overall and also 1903 progress. Toward the end of April our class progress has not been too bad but will have to perk up a lot in May and June to make our showing at least as good as in recent years and meet our 1963 objective. As class agent I am certainly an interested party personally and do hope we can mayhap better last year's results. At this writing, 14 of the class had sent in contributions and four memorial gifts been received. Over-all as at April 30, total fund giving was $100,169 ahead of 1962; average gifts $82.34 as against $73.61 last year. In the Green Derby standings Group 1, Classes 1903 through 1912, we stood third with 69% of objective.

There is time but not too much for those who have put it oft or maybe forgotten its importance to send their checks. You all have post-paid addressed envelopes. I hope you have read the copy of "Class Agent Bulletin #3-Supplement" enclosed with my Fund letter of April 20.

I will have to be a bit brief on news. A note from Ernest Brown tells of HamlinBennett's return from over two months at the Lynn Hospital. Hamlin was married Easter Sunday to Mrs. Foster. Pray Wadham and Jessica expect to drive up as far as Binghamton and there join up with the Ags for the rest of the trip. Bill MacLennan mailed a post card from Honolulu; we hope he will not be too tired to come on to Hanover in June as he figured on doing earlier in the year. Another letter from (Dr.) Arthur Noyes would indicate he is pretty well limited by his wheel chair in getting around. Maybe as long as he can not get to see us it would be next best if we sent a post card or letter to him now and then.

Don't forget the 1963 Alumni Fund Gift. Please send it now (if you haven't already done it). It will be June 30 before we know it. To those who have heard the call with a check, thank you: to those who have put it off, please get busy.
