On Monday, December 30, the Dartmouth Club of Sarasota held the largest luncheon meeting of its history, with the exception of President Dickey's luncheon last March when there were 192 present. At this meeting the Club entertained prospective students and the speaker was Dr. George Baughman, former Vice-President of NYU and now President of Sarasota's New College.

There were over sixty people present and they enjoyed not only the Dartmouth Fellowship and Dr. Baughman's talk, but also the College's brand new slide-film which was ordered expressly for the prospective students, but which was enjoyed as much, if not more, by the alumni and wives who were present.

One new member was introduced, ArvinGunnison '22, who has just recently moved to Sarasota. Also, as honored guests, AlbertDickerson '30, Dean of Freshmen and HughMorrison '26, head of the Art Department, were introduced with their wives, Lucia and Charlotte. Prof, and Mrs. Andrew Scarlett '10 and Mr. and Mrs. William Kendall '10 were the guests of Warren Kendall '99. Gib Robinson '26 was very much in evidence as were Ray Wain '17, Jack O'Donnell '10, Bob Kenyon '07, "Dink" Wiener '4O, Clark Collins '19 and many more - too long a list of Dartmouth men to mention in this short account.

Sumner Emerson '17, president of the Club, introduced Dr. Baughman, who spoke on "Education in the South." The talk was a very flattering portrayal of the privately endowed independent colleges (Dartmouth in particular) in comparison to the institutions in the South. It was a most able presentation and I feel sure that more than one prospect had second thoughts about applying to a Southern college or university.

Our next formal meeting will be held during the first week in February and will also be a luncheon. This will be our annual trek to Anna Maria Island where we will meet at the Holmes Beach Yacht Club. This meeting has always had an excellent attendance and we are sure that this year will be no exception.
