Most of you probably look on June as the "end of the year" what with kids getting out of school, community or church projects and organizations going dormant for the hot months, and possibly even the summer doldrums tending to make business a lacklustre affair. As you might guess, the bride's month also signals a welcome respite for tribal scribes and with no reluctance whate'er we'll mothball the battered Remington till Bob Blackman's boys are knockin' heads on Chase Field. Or is it Nervi's field house now? No matter, onward to . . .
THE HITCHING POST
Whoop! Halloo! A nuptial ceremony to report no less. We do get a cosmopolitan air with this one, too. Harry Roberts Melone Jr. and Miss Domnica Djuvara of Niamey, Niger, and Paris, France, were wed March 21 in Niamey where Harry is First Secretary of the American Embassy. The bride attended schools in Rumania, Sweden, Germany, England, and France. Post Dartmouth studies at Yale led Harry to the Foreign Service and assignments in Tabriz and Tehran, Iran; Paris; Yaounde, Cameroon, and Banqui, Central African Republic.
Best wishes, y'all!

INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ
Several stalwart sachems have responded to our casual requests for data on Dartmouths. For sheer mileage, you'd have to give Jim Harms the laurels as his report wended its way from Rio de Janeiro where he's all but become a Carioca. A most interesting interview appeared in a recent issue of Standard of California's house organ. We don't have room for the whole bit, possibly 50-50 editor Bob Kelly can cover it more fully, but for the record, Jim has "four kids ... two in the sand-box set and two who claim to be teenagers. Wife Terry's (recent) broken leg allowed her to take Portuguese and to learn the guitar." Kathy (10) accompanies Mom on the piano while Jim and son Jim (13) play ball. "Rick, just past his first birthday, is both musical and athletic, but he performs alone. Meg, now three, is likewise a loner." Jim Sr. furnishes technical services to Petrobras, the government oil agency, hoping to garner sales for Socal over half a dozen competitors.
Phil Brown has been a geologist for Anaconda for a baker's dozen years, four in Butte and nine in Toronto. He and Dorothy aren't sure, yet, about the fun and frolic fifteenth a year away. Possibly the brood of four is an influence! They include Deborah (15), Charlotte (12), Peter (10½), and Amy Ruth, going on four.
Jack Elliott is vice prexy for Rhode Island Textile Company in the narrow fabrics biz. He and Ann (John Moulton's sister) also have a third of a dozen offspring: Sally (1216), John Jr. (11½), Glen (seven), and Susan who's four. The whole family had season tix on the Sunapee-Cannon slopes and skied every weekend from a rented abode in New London. Great ploy, boy!
Jim Wehnes is a buyer in Sears' retail and catalog operations in the Windy City. He and Mary boast three daughters, Jeanne Marie, Elizabeth Ann, and Kathleen Mary, who range in age from two to six. Going to leave the girls and hit the annual Chi picnic in August, Jim?
Oops! End of the row. Alumni Fund ... now, man, now!
Happy vacations.
