The College's Will to Excel capital campaign is history, winding up with a half a billion bucks and change (if you call $50 million change). A lot of '49ers helped. In fact, the final report lists the 36 '49ers who pledged $10,000 or better. They deserve more than a nod: Bob Alden, George Baker, Tom Barr, Joel Berson, Peter Brown, Bill Chapman, Clarke Church, B.B. Crawford, Geoff Farnum, Carl Granger, Ralph Greenhouse, Vail Haak, George Hartmann, Ritchie Hunt, Jack Kilmartin, Arnold Kramer, Mark Lansburgh, Irl Marshall, Mike Metz, Reed Parker, Burt Proom, Ray Rasenberger, Dave Raynolds, Bob Reed, Bob Rencurrel, Bob Rooke, Jay Rosenfeld, Don Scully, Ken Soule, John Stearns, Bob Swift, Winslow Taylor, Gordon Thomas, Ray T runcellito, Al Wagner, and Paul Woodberry.

The '49 roster of major donors also includes three anonymous gifts do you suppose one was Gunther Perdue? plus two bequests, from recently deceased classmates Roger Sheldon and Ernest Vesey.

Thanks to all concerned, and that means the rest of you who may haved missed the list by only a digit or two. As Sen. Everett Dirkson said, "A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money."

Making the front page of The New York Tim.es is a big deal, but making its page 2 "Corrections" column may be even more elite. A couple of months back the aforementioned Mike Metz who's probably bearish on The Times now—made it. They had gotten his company association wrong it's really Oppenheimer.

Last spring Doug Thomson, who is usually in Grantham, N.H., sent a note from Bonita Springs, Fla., along with a photo of himself, Matt Fenton, and Mike Marchese, plus Paul Lux '46 and Jim Shanahan '47, relaxing in "their winter pasture at Naples." They were having a good time.

Mike Gish, who is usually in Greenwich, Conn., sent a note from Geneva, Switzerland, where he was on vacation, skiing and admiring the scenery. Unfortunately Mike suffered a disastrous fire in his Westport studio in January. While he lost a number of paintings, he was insured and is rebuilding. In July he mounted a one-man show in a gallery on Block Island. Incidentally, Mike is undertaking some portrait commissions—so, if you're out of ideas for Christmas...

Punchy Thomas, who is usually in Norwich, Vt., has a new toy, a 27-foot motor home, in which he and Doris toured Dixie and points west last spring. At 8 MPG. Their highlights included a mini Texas barbecue at the Rocket Reed Ranch near San Antonio. (The barbecue was big, the reunion was mini.) Matt "Pick Axe" Wayner and Theresa attended, along with Fred Briscoe and date (who was running for mayor of San Antone).

A few days (and quite a few gallons) later the Thomases convened a second mini in Scottsdale with John and Ellie Simpson, John and Joan Sweetland, and Irl and Barb Marshall. How did they all fit in the vehicle?

An e-mail from Luke Smith '88 reports that father Gene Smith attended the NCAA hockey championships in Milwaukee to see Dartmouth play, and ran into quite a little Green.
