Seems as if you can't talk to anyone these days and ask him a question unless you offer him a chance to come back next week and try for $64,000. Inquired about the time from a guy on the corner and he told me, "No help from the audience." You're really out of it if your neighbor's TV goes on the blink, but since that is the case tonight, we'll mosey over to ...

CUPID'S CORNER As the last skyrocket fizzled to earth after Independence Day in North Carolina, George Woodwell and Alice Katherine Rondthaler of Ocracoke Island were wed. Well, actually it was July 7. They're both doing further studies at Duke University, and the bride is a graduate of Reed College, Portland, Ore.

On July go, Ellin Virginia Brown of Forest Hills Gardens, N. Y., became the wife of JohnFoote. She's a grad of Allegheny, and John's with du Pont in Wilmington. Harvey Graves acted as best man.

There were two gals involved with ShermClough on August 13, Carol, a hurricane, to whom he paid no never mind, and Suzanne Neale Parsons of Chatham Center, N. Y., to whom he was married. The unfortunate appearance of Carol held down the crowd of well-wishers from around New York, but the couple was able to journey to Canada for their honeymoon before settling down in Schenectady where Sherm is with G. E. Suzanne graduated from Elmira and did further work at Middlebury and the Sorbonne.

Also tying a nuptial knot at a hitching post in Kingston, N. H., were Betty Ann Platin of Concord and Robert Curtis McKee. Mrs. McKee is an alumna of UNH, and Curt has been teaching school in the Granite State following graduate work at N.Y.U. They're living in Leb.

Dan Featherston married Rya Solveig Weichert in Sea Cliff, N. Y., August 27. There will never be any doubt of the legality of this match since both of them are deep in the midst of torts, writs, and contracts as seniors at Harvard Law School.

That day was a busy one in Toledo where, at 0355 in the morning Glen Fitkin's wife presented to the world G.L.F. Ill. Ten hours later, brother Hal, briefly free from Uncle Sam, and Donna Knox were united in the bonds of holy matrimony. Your class agent passed out cigars while doing the chores of best man, and Bill Stark was among the ushers. Hal and frau will reside in Munich, Germany, until his Army hitch runs out.

Next month in St. Paul Miss Joan Theo Schall will become the bride of Bill Sholten, according to an announcement dated August 28. Joan is a graduate of Minnesota.

RATTLE PRATTLE.... Dick and JoanSitzer report a new class statistic, their firstborn child, Cynthia Ann. Arrived on July 29, she now is "getting fat as her old man even though we haven't started her on beer yet."

"Something to crow about," say Sal and JimFarmer about Thomas William who, on August 2, joined the brood consisting of Jimmy, aged 4, Serene, 2, and Mary Beth, 1. Father has started a three-year residency in radiology at University Hospital, Cleveland.

At 8:01 a.m., August. 4, Elaine and RonBohle became proud parents of a girl, Carol Ann. This 6 pounds, 15½ ounces, of charm made her debut at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, N. Y.

Another prospect for the Class of 1977 is Frank L. Harrington III, son of Frank and Sally on August 23. The good news emanated from Albuquerque where Frank sells insurance to the cave dwellers and sun worshippers.

For Fran and Angie Austin it was a daughter born on September 2 and named Victoria Fleming. Apparently the standard package this year is 6 pounds, 15½ ounces (see also above).

One large collectivistic wah-hoo-wah for all you folk!

SERVICE SIDELIGHTS.... This department is rapidly taking on the proportions of a nonentity. So who's complaining? But we're not forgetting that a few lads are still in the ranks and some are planning to stay there. Capt. Frank Lion, after three-and-a-half years in Deutschland, took an advanced course at Fort Benning, Ga., and is staying on there with wife Linda and the youngsters, Kent and Wendy. He reports all are 1-A.

We had a rumor that Phil Gross is making the Army a career and has been seen between maneuvers en route back to the Peach State from Fort Sill, Okla.

Two other Injuns in the armed forces include Nod Hovde and Cal Sia. By now Nobby should have completed the extra tour he took last year in order to (1) get married in Paris, (2) go skiing in the Alps, and (3) serve with the Rhine River Patrol. Hope we listed those activities in proper sequence! Cal has recently pinned on the silver bars and been assigned to the William Beaumont Army Hospital in El Paso.

INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ. ... Those of you who haven't seen hide nor hair of your nearby college contemporaries for a few moons might keep in mind the venerable institution of Ant Study 103, better known as the family picnic. A few of us managed to gather in the hills of the Pound Ridge Reservation near Bedford, N. Y., late in August, and while the turnout was slightly less than we had in Hanover a year ago, it was an enjoyable gathering. Harry, Mary Lou, and Tommy VanBenschoten came to the party early from their newly acquired home in Stamford (just a niblick shot on Exit 35 off the Merritt). Other prompt arrivals included Terry, Mary, andBilly Guider, Jim, Nancy, and Gordie Nye, and Bill and Judy. Before the day was over Rog Gaylord, Dolph Cramer, and the Bill Fergusons comprised of Bill, Dana, and Duncan, alias "Flip," had mustered with the troops. Can we count on the rest of you next year? Comments about locale, timing, etc., are definitely in order, too.

We'd like to doff the editorial headdress to a few '50s who have made their marks in sundry ways. Frank Gilroy authored "a superior television western" last spring, according to the New York Times. His play The Last Notch will be filmed in Hollywood ... Bob Jordan had eighteen oil and water color paintings on display at Hood College, Md., last May, and previously has been shown in New York, New Jersey, and Baltimore ... Dick Gowen has been made an assistant professor in the physical education department at Amherst where he is line coach for the football team and also mentors the frosh basketball and lacrosse squads. ... Steve Pollak is managing editor of the Yale Law Review ... AI Kerivan continues to do a bang-up job with Owens Corning Fiberglas Corp. and has been named assistant manager of their general products division in Boston. Spif was again named to the firm's Sales Builders' Club, one of eighteen in the country!

Fair Harvard bestowed law degrees on JimPressey and Pat Brewster last June, and DaveSteinberg was awarded Master of Arts....

Jim Birney has taken charge as rector at St. Luke's Parish in Seaford, Dela. ... Don Waite is now Atlantic District Manager for FactoryManagement and Maintenance Magazine, a McGraw Hill pub.

Dave Davis is an assistant professor of history at Cornell this year and had his article entitled Murder in New Hampshire published in the June New England Quarterly. Presume the story tells about Dartmouth's football victories this year.

Recent Hanover Inn-juns included Mr. andMrs. Bud Gleason, Pete Bucklin, and BillWeissman. And Phil Chapalis spent part of his four-week stay in America during August at Hanover. He acted as escort officer orienting immigrants, but now may be found in the English Department at Athens College, Greece.

Newc Eldredge's letter of last May included a snap of Steve Johnson telephoning results of the annual Dartmouth Cup ski race last winter. The event, run for high school students in the area, ought to provide terrific publicity for the College. Also around Denver is Don F. Brown oil engineering for Sharpless Oil Corp., and Bill Carpenter, splitting his time between the Navajo Freight Lines and the Alumni Fund. Dick Catron is advertising manager for Associated Arts and dabbles in a schuss-bunny venture too. ErnieBorn was still in the grind of Colorado Medical School when last seen.

That winds it up this month, chums. While waiting for your next issue, drop Si Morand a stipend for class dues, and take it slow.
