Last Christmas a letter to Katherine Barnard, widow of James (Kid) Barnard, was returned marked "address unknown." Following recent correspondence her address has been obtained; it is Bayside, South Boston, Mass. where her Christmas card was just mailed with a letter. Her niece, who visits her once a week, writes that she is happy there reading books and poetry.
From the Records Office in Hanover a notice arrived announcing the death of Anna Leavens, who died on September 8, 1965. Bob died April 21, 1961. The sympathy of the Class is extended to members of her families who live near her. She resided at 1900 Yosemite Road, Berkeley, Calif.
Your Acting Secretary and Elsie while living at Los Gatos, Calif., eighty miles south of Berkeley, visited them when Bob was living and spent an enjoyable afternoon. Bob was busy working on the life of William Jewett Tucker, the book which recently has been completed and published. It is reported to be a remarkable book.
A reply to my birthday letter to FrankieNewhall was written by his attorney, Buell B. Whitehill, and contains in part the following report: "He has nurses around the clock. Is taken out each fair day and walks indoors every day with the help of a nurse. He has his meals regularly and continues surprisingly well, is cheerful and happy and keeps in good spirits. He is always glad to hear from his friends and appreciates your birthday card."
The Cudworths have moved again. Frank packed and prepared 6000 pounds of household goods. It was a big job, having finished it he decided it would be the last time. The next moving would be done by the movers and their packers. Another good reason to quit was to do it while his record was good. For the previous 18 times it was one dish broken. He hopes when he unpacks the 19th time there will be nothing to worsen it.
The goods were shipped by van to go to the Lake Palms Apartment, St. Petersburg, Fla. We are located in a penthouse on the fifth floor from which there is a fine view of the city.
We did not wish to go to Florida until the weather was cooler so we are settled temporarily at the home of our daughter, Betty Jane MacMichael, 99 Poe Road, Princeton, N. J. 08540.
If you do not want this column to dry up completely please send in some news. I think this is the first time I have made this request in the Class news.
