In answer to his birthday letter James A. Howe, Punta Gorda, Fla., writes he celebrated it by taking a two-mile walk to the barber shop for a hair cut. It was a beautiful day (as always) bright, sunny, and lots of wind. "'Betsy' (the hurricane) did not bother us at all, just the right amount of rain. So you are coming back to Florida! Good for you!
"I keep disgustingly healthy. Haven't had an hour's indisposition as far as I can remember in six years in Florida. What more could I ask for at 87? The only 'break' was a few days' visit by my sister from Vermont."

"My daughter Mia is now giving Europe a look-see with her husband, Robert A. Ronzio who goes to the Tufts Medical School in Boston upon his return to do research in biochemistry. They are a very happy couple."
C. H. Merrill, Doc, writes: "I reached the appalling age of 88 today. These birthdays come thick and very fast. I wonder why I am losing my former bounce and agility, then I think of my age. No wonder!
"I want to drive up to the Harvard Stadium tomorrow for the Dartmouth Harvard game but am a little timid about going alone. (Hope he did.)
