Jim Lawrence has a new position with Weichert Realtors in Wilmington, Del. He had been a computer specialist with DuPont until retiring six years ago; they are looking ahead to spending more months each year beside a golf course in Fort Meyers and fewer months around Wilmington. A son is a pediatric dentist in Bowie, Md., and a daughter keeps up the family swimming tradition in Alexandria, Va Jim's computer career got its start in one of John Kemeny's first classes at Dartmouth. Navy duty on the cruiser Macon after graduation was not a major rang in his climb up the computing-professional ladder.

Adam Block would be glad to help you sign on to the class's record-setting listserve if these quick instructions leave you confused: Send a oneline e-mail message to . As the body of the message, write: subscribe class-57.

George Vandusen had an article, "Delayed Delivery Dangers," published in Broker World last July. It outlined and underlined the risks involved when insurance policies are delayed in getting to the client. Medical tests, for instance, are time-sensitive. George's firm is Diversified Brokerage Services in Minneapolis; he lives west of the Mississippi in Edina near Ned Bixby and not too far from Gary Gilson and TomKeller.

Jack Cramer's Dartmouth Club of Cape Cod won a Club of the Year Award this year. Jack's vice president and program director, Howie Howland (also our class minireunion chair), was in Hanover to accept the award during Leadership Weekend in September.

John Citron, the third '57 in the Cape Cod club's directorate, keeps track of the cash that Jack and Howie (and others) use to mount award-winning initiatives. John is also treasurer of Helen Keller International, a blindness prevention and treatment organization and with his wife, Ellen, is a leader in the Cape Cod Therapeutic Riding Center. Their daughter leads Marjie Citron and Dancers in New York City; their son James is dean of international studies at Endicott College.

The coincidence of John and Jack's meeting at the Queen's birthday in London, pictured in the Newsletter, reminds me of standing in line for a performance at Preservation Hall in New Orleans some years back. We struck up a conversation with a sophisticated gentleman behind us. When he crossed the street to bring us all a beer, I told Sally I thought he seemed vaguely familiar. I asked, and it was Gene perle after 35 years. He was and is at Wayne State in Detroit, teaching and doing research in geography and urban planning.

Have you enjoyed an unexpected encounter with a classmate? Please share it with us, and please don't wait for the other person to tell me about it.

Keep an ear and eye open for National Dartmouth Community Service Week next June 19-27. The initiators want to tie local organization of local projects to a single time period that will become positively associated with Dartmouth. The clubs will probably be the sparkplugs and publicizers. You can start your own planning with a note to .
