There are a number of you who, like myself, have not been able to see the Big Green play football since the fall of 1961. My first game will be the Penn game, but I wish I could share with you the pleasure I experienced last weekend when I visited Hanover. I arrived in town just at the close of the victory over Holy Cross in Worcester. The freshmen were right on the ball, and the Rollins bells were tolling the good news to the countryside. The air was cold, the wind biting, and the bright sunshine brought all the autumn colors to life. Spread over the campus was a Mona Lisa-like smile of welcome, and once again we understood why a return to Dartmouth means so much to alumni. The only point that bothered me was how very young the freshmen, complete with beanies and badges, seemed to be. We couldn't have looked that young!

According to plans I met up with Hal and Fran Deane, who were married last June 8 in Detroit. Fran is the former Miss Lenna Frances Golding of Dearborn, Mich. She's quite a girl, and can mock Hal beautifully, knocking him down to size in a matter of seconds. And isn't that one of the jobs of a good wife? We visited familiar places - Riverside Grille, Green Lantern, Hanover Inn cocktail lounge and dining room, and even crashed a swinging party at Alpha Theta (where we began to feel that maybe Medicare wasn't too far away for us). It was a very pleasant 24-hour stay. I hope many of you will have this same opportunity in the near future. And don't forget our reunion this June.

Andy Bartlett and wife are back in Boston. Andy got his Harvard law degree in June, passed the Oklahoma bar exam, and now is working for his M.B.A., also at Harvard.

Dave French wrote of his doings in the Mediterranean where he is stationed aboard the carrier "Forrestal." Dave was originally with the "Kitty Hawk" in Southeast Asia and was supposed to return there this October after a stay back home, but a change of plans sent him east instead of west. "While getting ready for the deployment we were stationed at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va. Here I ran into KentHutchinson who is in an F-4B Phantom Squadron VF-10Z. He is an NAO radar operator or 'backseat driver' in grand style. Since I was without wheels — selling my car before coming to the East coast - Hutch lent me his Corvair (N. H. license plate #'XX-XX') while he 'had' to go on a cross country flight to Bermuda. Also in the area stationed at the Fleet Anti-Air Warfare Training Center (FAAWTC) Dam Neck, Va., was John Damon '61/'62 who was having as much fun as Hutch 'batching it up.'" Dave also reports running into Dave De-Wilde, Don Curliss '63, Bruce Nickerson '64, and Dick Hauptman '63.

The big news from Kent Morton, besides the fact that he has dropped 45 pounds since June '62, is that he is back in school, working for his M.B.A. at San Jose (Calif.) School of Business. Kent and Di are looking forward to the June reunion and then possibly spending the summer in Rochester, N. Y.

I noticed by the papers that Frank Lena, Harvard Law '65, is now hard at work directing the new Lena Enterprises in Salem, Mass. He arranges franchises for new Lena Submarine Sandwich Shops, and is spreading the fact, which I've known for years, that Lena Subs are about the best you can buy.

Eric Berg and wife are preparing to rejoin the civilian world after three years with the Marine Corps. As yet his plans for the future are unsettled. He reports that BruceEnnis is serving as a law clerk in Nashville, Tenn., possibly going on to NYC afterwards. Eric also tells us that Sid Trapp has begun studying law at Syracuse, and that he and wife Marty are parents of a second child, Kristen, who was born on August 1.

I caught Al Priaulx' name on the byline of a UPI story from New Hampshire. I believe Al is now UPI's chief in that state.

Dave and Muriel Armstrong are making their home down in Alexandria, Va. Dave got his law degree in June from the Georgetown University Law Center, and has joined the legal department of Allegheny Airlines in Washington, D. C. Dave assists the company's vice president in legal affairs and economic research, and is rapidly becoming seasoned in CAB work.

Two more men who received M.D. degrees from Harvard are Steve Wolfe and Al Weinberg.

One news clipping caught me a little off guard. I knew that Art Hoover had graduated from Notre Dame Law School, but did not know until now that he has come back East to practice. Art is now associated with the Somersworth, N. H., firm of Beamis and Davis, after having passed the N. H. bar exam and being sworn in before the state Supreme Court in August.

There are many degree recipients that I have missed. I have not intended to slight anyone, however I repeat once again that to a great degree I am dependent upon news clippings, and that without these or letters from you I can do very little.

Once again we are rapidly reaching the end of the column, and we still haven't begun the vast backlog of weddings. Maybe next month.

Lt. (jg) Neil Drobny '62 (c) receives theAntarctic Service Medal from Capt.Wayne Christiansen, Director of the Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory in California. Neil's wife Sue looks on.
