We sure had a White Christmas in New Hampshire - and beautiful!
In addition to the long list of accomplishments in "Who's Who in the South and Southwest" Dr. Herb Marshall has become a member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Police Boys Club of the District of Columbia. It is with sadness that we learn of the death of Herb's mother who was 90 years old at the time she died.
Tom Davidson had the forethought to see the possibilities of extending the Wells-Kennebunk district to a two-season resort. It was through his interest and efforts that "The Big A" was born (The Agamenticus Mountain Ski and Recreation area) in York, Me. Although Tom is retired from his Elizabeth, N. J., law practice he still operates his Aberdeen Cattle Farm in New York and is putting great effort into this Maine Coast Ski project. More power to you, Tom, and best of results! We have brief word from Ben Potter that he is still working and "not smart enough to retire." Gene Fiske is still postmaster in Mount Vernon, N. Y., but is due for retirement in a few years. Wadeand Bertha Smith are partly retired and are now living at Pebble Beach, Calif. A bit of nostalgia could be detected between the lines as he mentioned the good old days with George Page in Bellows Falls, and how many of the boys are back in, or near, Hanover while he is in far-off California. Arthur and Mary Pierce after retiring last year have settled in Harwich, Mass., and have a very interesting address — Quail Nest Run, RFD 1, Harwich. Len Davis, after spending the summer at York Beach, is back in La Grange, Ill. He and Tink Lombard keep in touch. Tink and Esther stopped on their way down from the Columbia game to call in on Abe Weld '21 at his new home in Bradford. Abe sent them off laden with fruit and vegetables all "home grown."
Snake Corbin writes a newsy note telling that Don MacKay has recuperated from a several months' stay in the hospital and is now going to his office part time. His '20 friends will be glad to know Don is on the mend. Snake and Margaret spent Thanksgiving in Charlotte, N. C., with the Vails. You will recall that their daughter married Jimmy Vail's son. The Corbins have a country home in Wisconsin not far from the Foster McGaws. Mrs. McGaw, as you will also recall, is Jimmy Vail's widow. Many of the '20s in their news notes reminisce about the grand time they had at Reunion last June and are already talking about the 50th. Tommy Thomson is not only talking about it, he is really doing something about it. He and Anne have already started a piggy bank so they won't be caught short in 1970. What better way to be sure of making it? RHSS Cotner is really enjoying his retirement catching up on all the things there was never time for before - golf, gardening, reading, and he has an electric organ he keeps exercised also. Gerry Morse is still carrying on in New York City.
Dana (Ned) Pearson died at the Polyclinic Hospital in New York after a long illness. In Memoriam will be found in this or a subsequent issue. The sympathy of the Class goes to his wife Ruth and the other surviving members of his family. A, Christmas card brings news that Pat Holbrook is a proud grandpappy; his first grandchild, Pamela, arrived on November 23 and "is the most beautiful-living-doll ever." Congratulations, Pat.
Pike Emory writes interestingly of his activities operating out of Bishop Museum in Honolulu - "As senior investigator of an intensive program of archaeological researching the islands of Polynesia, a program financed largely by the National Science Foundation, I have been busily occupied visiting our teams in the various islands, and when opportunity permitted, giving a hand at digging myself. Our main groups of operation are the Society Islands, the Marquesas Islands, Pitcairn Island, Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, the Samoan Islands, Tongatabu in the Torgan Islands, and an island in the Lau Group of the Fiji Islands. Also we have been stepping up operations in the Hawaiian Islands, under another grant from the N.S.F. All this has prevented my getting back to the hills of New Hampshire. There are times when snow would be a welcome change, but most of the time I am very happy among my Polynesians and their blue lagoons."
Soup Campbell has an impressive list of accomplishments: Prof, of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Univ. of Wisconsin, governor of the American College of Surgeons, delegate to the American Medical Association, consulting surgeon to the Armed Forces of the U.S., past president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a contributor to many medical publications. His son, Emerson, who graduated from Kalamazoo College and the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy is a Pharmacist in the V.A. Hospital in Batavia, N. Y.
Jim Parkes' most important news recently is that he and Grace have another granddaughter, making a total of five granddaughters, four of them Halseys living in Amherst and the latest one, Susan, living in New York City is a Parkes, daughter of James C. Parkes, M.D. being a resident at N. Y. Orthopedic Hospital (Columbia Presbyterian).
MID-WINTER FROLIC for 1920-21 is scheduled for March 6 at the Highway Motel in Concord, N. H. Abe Weld '21 is Chairman for 1921 and Paul Richter and his committee, Charlie Crathern, AI Foley, and Dal Dalrymple for 1921, are working to make this a gala affair. This is not confined to Concord, or to New Hampshire. Last year there were '20s from Massachusetts, Maine, and Connecticut as well as New Hampshire, and a gab fest and grand good time was had by all. If you don't receive further information, this is your notice; this is your invitation - just contact one of the committee to make your reservations.

Hazel and I expect to be at Long Boat Key for three months. The address is just Long Boat Key, P.O. Florida. Keep the news coming, and we would be happy to have those in Florida look us up, ours is an easy location to find, near Post Office. Long Boat Key can be reached from Sarasota or Bradenton. I think Al Foley will publish a list of those living in, and vacationing, in Florida in his next TWENTY Newsletter.
