The New York Times, September 10 carried the news of the approaching marriage on October 10 of Karl Pittelkow's daughter Jane to Paul Lyon Houston. Karl lives in Newtown, Conn., and is vice president and marketing director of Neoweld Corporation, Cornwall Bridge, manufacturer of electrical equipment. Jane is a graduate of the Northfield School and is a junior at Boston University. Her fiance is a graduate of Mount Hermon School and Yale. He is studying for his Ph.D. at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Tom Maynard is a candidate for the Maine State Senate, District 7. This includes Westbrook, Scarborough and two wards in Portland. He has a fine program and if his vote is in proportion to the strength of his program, he should be elected in November. We wish you success, Tom.
Marv Braverman has been elected to the chairmanship of the U. S. National Commission for UNESCO to serve a one-year term. The Commission is composed of 100 members appointed by the Secretary of State to advise the government in matters relating to UNESCO and to maintain liaison with organizations, institutions, and individ- uals in the U. S. Marv has served Dart mouth in many ways, most recent as Alumni Council member and Washington, D. C., area chairman for the Third Century Fund.
Jack Blair's daughter, Chilla, a stewardess with Eastern Airlines for nine years before her marriage to a Navy flyer in Alaska, presented Jack and Cynthia with their first grandchild, a little girl, Michel. They are living in Kodiak, Alaska. Jack also reports that several years ago they acquired a house in Southampton, Bermuda, aptly named "Little Paradise," close to a fine golf course.
I talked several days ago with Dick Clark and discovered that it was Lucy's and his 26th wedding anniversary. We have been working together on a probate matter in Worcester County which has interesting complications.
We are looking forward to the Holy Cross-Dartmouth Game in Worcester on Saturday to give us a preview for October 10th's Princeton Weekend. We are also looking forward to a good turnout of classmates at the fall reunion.
Jack Hubbard has informed us of the recent arrival of a granddaughter in August. Our congratulations go to his son John and wife and to the proud grandparents and welcome to Kirstin Leigh Hubbard.
