1930 informal reunions have taken on a character which equates them to the formal reunions of most of the less lively generation. During the little more than a year's tenure of the present administration, we have managed to meet more often and in greater numbers than ever before in our history. Culminating a great Princeton weekend, more than 110 classmates and wives met for dinner on October 7 at the Woodstock Inn. With an executive committee meeting, cocktail party at the John Frenches', Bema luncheon, and football victory behind us, this was a time for strengthening the friendships which are definitely maturing among those fortunate enough to be able to meet frequently and which will be enlarged as our plans for regional and state meetings become a reality.

More than 35 attended the executive committee meeting. Ned Grant appeared from Denver, Cliff Vogt and Lee Chilcote from Cleveland. Jim Mitchell reported on the progress of the regional and state organization and Frail Horn has promised to carry details on this in his next newsletter. WallyBlakey presented the thoughts of his committee on publications and the executive committee voted to ask them to proceed in planning for a major publication prior to our 40th in 1970, which would update Twenty-Five Years in the Wide, Wide World.

Looking ahead, there will be an executive committee meeting (all classmates invited) at the Dartmouth Club of New York at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 1, followed by a dinner to which wives will be welcome. A movie of the Danube canoe trip by a group of undergraduates will be shown. And in April there will be a Boston meeting at the Harvard Club at which we will honor the dozen or more classmates who have devoted their lives to secondary education. We hope this will be only the first of a series of occasions to recognize the great talent in our class. Finally, don't delay in making reservations for the Penn game on October 13, 1967 when Woodstock Inn will again be campaign headquarters for 1930.

Early in the weekend, Kay Chilcote suffered a fractured bone in her neck when struck by a piece of plywood which had been leaning against a building near the Inn Motel. We all join in wishing her a rapid recovery. Ruth Embree joined us for the weekend, after visiting with daughter Carol who is working for her Master's degree at Lehigh following her graduation from Hood.

Boof and Billie Perkins have recently returned from a trip to London to visit with their son Charles who is studying for his Doctorate in 17th Century literature at the University of London. And daughter Penelope, mother of five, is working on her Master's at Brandeis University. Jack and EdithFitzpatrick are more constant travelers, having spent the better part of the past three years on the road, with rather complete coverage of the known world. Rog Ela reported that his daughter Margaret, after attending Colby College, was married in June to Barry Case and that they are now living at the Elas' farm in Bolton, Mass. Roger and Anna still maintain a place in the Woodstock area and have kept up their lifelong interest in raising and showing horses.

Martha Bowlen has graduated from American International College in Springfield and is engaged to Robert Harrington, Bowdoin '66, and now at OCS at Fort Sill. They plan to be married in February. The Shaw Coles parlayed a twentieth wedding anniversary, the christening of their twelfth grandchild, and the announcement of Heather's engagement to Michael Steers, son of Buck andHannah Steers, all into a few days time. Michael is attending the University of Arizona, and Heather is a graduate of the New England Baptist School of Nursing in Boston. AlMcGrath had as his guest for the weekend daughter Suzanne, who is now working with Mobil in New York. And the RolyBoomas' guest was Evelyn Weatherbee who certainly qualifies as an honorary member of 1930 because of her keen interest in the Class and in Dartmouth. Hank and JeanWood dropped over from St. Johnsbury where Hank manages a W. T. Grant store. With the exception of his military service in the 40's, Hank has devoted most of his work career to merchandising. Governor Volpe presented Carl Haffenreffer with a Distinguished Service Award for his efforts in making the "U.S.S. Massachusetts" a popular tourist attraction at Fall River.

Vic Borella, the "man behind Rockefeller's success in wooing labor support," wasn't on deck for the Princeton game, but retirement apparently has not lessened his ability to win friends and influence elections. Bill Putnam has been reappointed to the New Hampshire State Council on Aging by Governor King. Karl Rodi is a party to the formation of a firm for the practice of law in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, to be known as Rodi & Van Zyl. Bill Milne, after more than a dozen years with Rumford Chemical, has been appointed sales manager of Clover Chemical Company of East Providence, and will continue to live in Barrington, R. I. James Murray is staff instructor for the Univac Education Center of Sperry Rand and is living in Maple Glen, Pa. Dick andEileen Howell announced the engagement of Joan to Peter Kendrick, and a November wedding is planned. Fred Bowes Jr. was married to Margaret Anne Hathaway in September.

We regret to report the death of Dr. Daniel S. McKenna on July 20, 1966 in Denver. Our sympathy is extended to Mary and their three children. A plane accident has taken the life of John D. Stearns, a student at the University of Colorado. He was the son of Bill Stearns and our thoughts are with him in this time of sorrow.
