Mike Fraser has been named Professor Emeritus of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University after serving as administrative chairman of that department at Washington Hospital Center since 1964. In addition to many years of practice and teaching, he has been a consultant to Walter Reed General Hospital and chairman of the Obstetrical Board of the Medical Society of the District of Columbia which gave him its distinguished service award in 1965.
Don Shaskan reports that he and Frances have returned from a visit to the Yucatan (where Dick Tilt is building a winter home), and brings us up to date on their three sons, Edward teaching at Brown, Geoffrey a social worker in San Mateo, and Jon welding at Curtiss Wright in New Jersey. Don is the class expert on psychotherapy and is the chief of Psychiatric Service, VA Hospital, San Francisco.
Ed Sprankle, who was an early retiree in 1960, is an ardent three times a week golfer. Ed was formerly a vice president of Central National Bank of Cleveland. JimClark has served as superintendent of schools in Agawam, Mass., for 17 years. When he retired in June, the town gave him a testimonial dinner, he received the Revere Bowl from Governor Sargent, and the General Assembly resolved that he had done an outstanding job. He was happy to report that Barbara is doing well after surgery and that Carol and Joe Golan had visited them this summer on the way to the Cape. Edith and George Frederickson in turn met up with the Golans on the Cape and also journeyed to South Lubec, Me., for a week with Betty and WaltDresser.
Esther and Al Marsters, after visiting England and France this fall, will hole up for the winter at Naples, Fla. BobChittim, who has retired from Chase Brass and Copper, plans to move to Sarasota shortly. Fred Moller of Mendon, Vt., who boasted a short two years ago that he and Myrtle "love the four seasons and usually stay here all winter" seems to be hedging by acquiring a lot at River Park, Fla. Julieand Ave Gould will move to Bradenton before the end of the year, bringing permanent 1930 residents in Florida to more than 30.
Edith and Jack Fitzpatrick promise to return from Greece in time for the Woodstock reunion. They rank high on the frequency list of class travelers, with close competition from the likes of Shaw Cole who has been to Russia on a people to people tour, round-the-world Fran Horn and international salesman Fred Bowes. This should lead to hearing from other claimants which would be welcome news.
Mary and Ben Parish visited England and Scotland this summer and Billie andBoof Perkins may pass up Woodstock in favor of visiting their three grandchildren in London. Florence and Lee Sturman traveled to Hawaii in September to meet Skip '70 who was on leave from Navy duty in Japan.
Jack Deveau, retired sales manager for Eastern Motor Dispatch, was married in August to Ann Filoso. Their wedding was something special in that both are residents of the Park Avenue Nursing Home in East Orange, N. J. Best wishes also to Peter Condon who has married Terry Glassford of Lima, Ohio, and Dick Wooster '70 now the husband of Brooke Carmichael, Smith graduate and an exchange student at Dartmouth.
Karl Rodi reporting: "The Class had its second annual western weekend get-together in June at the Ojai Valley Inn and Country Club. Bob Marr was in charge, made all the arrangements, and did a grand job. Those there besides Bob and Leila Marr were Roger and Louise Clark, Chuck and Bobbie Jacobs, Bill and Nancy Lawson, Kel and Margaret Moore, Karl and Tina Rodi, Heinie and Bobbie Stewart and Fred and Esther Tangeman." Sponsors of the event are hopeful that next year more Californians will attend; of this year's attendants, three were from Arizona and one from Texas.
