Several columns ago I asked if there were any other '46 families blessed with four daughters. In response we received a belated Christmas card from Jack Underhill with a very lovely photograph of their four beautiful daughters. They appear to be about the same ages as our girls and I wish that we could print the picture for all of you jealous fathers of boys to see. Unfortunately, the MAGAZINE cannot print pictures other than those showing alumni, but at least the Kimballs are delighted with the picture. If anyone else can claim four daughters, please let me know, picture or not.
Recent correspondence indicates that FrankO'Neill Jr. has recently been elected a vice president by the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. Ed Lane-Reticker has been elected corporate secretary of the Connecticut Bank and Trust Company. Ed joined the legal staff of the bank's trust department in 1960 and was promoted to assistant vice president in 1963. He graduated from Harvard Law School following Dartmouth and is a member of the Connecticut and North Carolina bar associations.
Matt Gately has been appointed a trust officer of the Bank of New York. Matt also went after his law degree, receiving it from Harvard University in 1948. He is a member of the New York bar association. He has been with the bank since 1956, was named an assistant trust officer in 1963 and is now located at the bank's 63rd Street Office where he specializes in trust and estate matters.
We have a long article on Bill Larsen who is a professional consultant specializing in water pollution. Bill recently moved into a new office near Rochester, N. Y., and manages to keep very busy helping the various communities around the area and, from what the article says, many other areas. Bill received his bachelor's degree in engineering plus his master's degree at Thayer School and then worked for several state Public Works Departments before opening his own office.
Another article concerns Bob Levinson, vice president and head of the textile division of Bangor Punta Alegre Sugar Corporation. This is a large company involved in a considerable number of enterprises, one of the largest of which is the textile division. Bob received his master's degree in business at Tuck School and studied for his doctorate at the London School of Economics prior to joining Burlington Mills. He then left to join the Fabrex Company, served two years in the Navy during the Korean War and then joined Bangor Punta.
Just realized that Connecticut Bank and Trust Company has also elected another '46 an officer. Jim McNally is now treasurer of this bank. He joined Connecticut as a security analyst in the trust department in 1959, headed the trust investment department until late 1964 when he was placed in charge of the bank's portfolio and municipal finance department. Jim was with Morgan Guaranty Trust before moving to Hartford. Gil McDowell has been named a vice president of Smith, Barney and Co. Gil joined the company in 1953 and was a manager of its investment advisory department until joining the national sales management staff.
Well, that about does it for this run. Can't leave without mentioning that the skiing is the best in several years in this area and the local residents are again happy. Carnival comes up this weekend, and for the first time in several years the sculptors have plenty of snow with which to build their clever statues. Last year they had to import it, but they have enough on the campus now to build a replica of Baker Tower. I hope we see some of you more adventurous souls this weekend - if not. you'd better come up to try the skiing - it's great.
Best regards from the hills.
