Greetings from the southeastern Pennsylvania snow belt! This month's column will be shorter than usual. My supply of news is not exactly what I would call a surfeit, and I haven't had time to mount a news solicitation campaign. I'm also too tired to write a sermon this month.

I have always suspected that there must be an easier way to earn a respectable living than practicing law. Proper Bostonian Dwight Allison has set out to prove my suspicion. He has left a distinguished Beantown law firm to become a vice-president and director of Gardner Associates, Inc., which engages in personal fiduciary services and investment management. Dwight, wife Lyona, and three children reside in Wellesley, Mass.

Frank O'Neil has been named vice president — contract and supply department of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company's glass division. Frank has been with PPG in sales since graduation and has been at company headquarters in Pittsburgh since 1961.

Now that he has settled down and gotten married, Kodak has apparently decided that Al Karcher can be entrusted with greater responsibilities. He has been appointed manager of information and analysis for Kodak's business systems markets division. Most recently, Al had been director of sales development with Recordak Corporation, which has been integrated into the division. Al started with Kodak in Rochester, N. Y., in 1953 and was sent by the company to Cleveland, Lubbock, Texas, St. Louis, Chicago, back to Rochester, and then to New York City in 1963. His new promotion means that he will return to Rochester, where he and wife Mary will reside in a house in nearby Pittsford, which Al acquired some years back.

Ralph Watkins has been elected a stockholder of E. F. Hutton & Company, Inc., a member of the New York Stock Exchange. With Hutton since January 1964, Ralph is the firm's Director of Training, responsible for training prospective account executives in major areas of the securities field.

Ralph is a member of the American So- ciety for Training and Development, the Wall Street Training Directors Association, and the Public Relations Society of America. He resides in Locust Valley, Long Island, with wife Alexandra and two children.

John Hatch has become a partner of Field & Cowles, Boston insurance firm. After Navy service, John joined the firm as an account executive in 1955. He is a director of the Charles River Dartmouth Club and of the Animal Rescue League of Boston and Town Personnel Committeeman for Needham, Mass.

An invention by Frank Russell and his company's chief engineer increased 1965 sales by 50% over 1964 for Sleeper and Hartley, Inc., of Worcester, Mass. The increase resulted from the company's Duplex Wire Working Machine, described by vice president and sales manager Frank as "a major revision in the torsion spring winding machine form."

Hank and Shirley Sanders have adopted a son, Russell Edward, who was born last December. Hospital administrator John Ives spoke on Medicare as it will affect hospitals at a recent meeting of the Connecticut Association of Directors of Volunteer Services in Hospitals.

On the lecture circuit: Abdul Sheikh is back in the States talking about Islam. In January he spoke to the Oklahoma City Women's Dinner Club. I am not aware of his other stops.

Our Chicago Northside contingent succeeded in wheedling the video tape of the Princeton game for a gathering. In spite of near-blizzard conditions, six classmates made it. We're now in the season of Dartmouth Club annual dinners, and we hope that you are taking full advantage of such occasions to get together with classmates.
