NOVEMBER 1967 PAUL R. MAHONEY, JAY B. JOHNSTON

Tidings! Though I am writing this in late September, hopefully many of us will have attended our mini-reunion in Hanover by the time you read this. By then you should be prepping for Houseparties and rooting the Big Green down the home stretch of the Ivy race.

Stu Russell will be. He has returned from his Peace Corps stint in Camaroon, West Africa, and is now a graduate student at B.U. Stu is aiming for his M.A. in government, with concentration in African studies, and hopes eventually to return to Africa as a Peace Corps administrator. He took the long way home, through Europe, and ran into Mike Merritt, who spent the summer studying French at Pau, and is now back as a French instructor at Deerfield Academy. Stu also saw Mike Zare, who was vacationing from his teaching chores at Roxbury Latin School in Roxbury, Mass.

Dave Ruhnke last month completed ten weeks of Peace Corps training and is now one of 725 volunteers in the Philippines working with Filipino co- teachers. Their aim is to broaden the base of community education and introduce modern methods of instruction. Dave will also participate in community action and rice demon- stration projects. Before leaving the West Coast, he had ten weeks of training at San Jose State College in California.

Steve Banta is with the Peace Corps too, in the Philippines. Steve had been at Cornell doing graduate work in bacteriology.

John Fitzpatrick, who transferred to Denison after his freshman year at Dartmouth, graduated from Stanford Business School in June, and is now an assistant to the Divisional Vice-President of Meade Paper Company in his hometown of Dayton.

Jim Hollabaugh is an officer at the Air Intelligence School at Lowry A.F.B. in Denver. He'll be shipping out of there soon to some new assignment. Jim spent a year studying German and political science at the University of Munich before hooking up with the Air Force.

Bob Shine, who had enough smarts and the audacity to whip through Dartmouth in three years, is now in his final year at Indiana University School of Medicine. He spent the summer in El Cieba, Honduras, studying tropical medicine on a grant from LSU.

Mark Nackman continues his graduate studies at Columbia. He has been awarded a fellowship for doctoral study in American history. Mark tells me that Tom Marks is recently married, and, after a summer in Hanover, is now doing graduate work in social psychology at Berkeley.

Engagements and weddings remain much in vogue for our Class, and, since I have so recently been felled by Cupid, I will cease making value judgments on this social phenomenon, and will simply report all the instances of "love" that I know of.

Andre Boesch has become engaged to Miss Joan Flounders, who attended Colby College, and is now studying at the University of Lyon, France. Andre is a student at the Graduate Institute of International Studies at the University of Geneva.

Bill Duschatko was married last July to Miss Rebecca Fulweiler (Smith). Phil Cagnoni and Bob Crabb ushed for Bill and Rebecca. Bill graduated from Tuck in June.

Chet Phillips, who is in his third year at the UPenn School of Medicine, is engaged to Miss Judith Kiray, who will graduate from Ohio University in June.

Kent Swanson is engaged, and presumably married by now, to Miss Mary Smith of Mound, Minn. Mary is a graduate of the U. of Minn., and was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Bahia in Brazil. Kent is doing graduate work in industrial relations at the University of Minn.

Merritt Meyer married Miss Susan McGee (Lake Erie College and Rhode Island School of Design) on June 17. Merritt is now at Cornell studying architecture.

Dick Reese has married Miss Shirley Robertson, and they are now living in the Boston area while Dick attends Harvard Med, and Shirley studies at B.U.

Dan Morley is another who should be married by now, though I only have news of his engagement. His fiancee (wife?) is Miss Nancy Hamill (Bennett College and George Washington University). Dan graduated from Dartmouth in June.

Lee Curtis married Miss Cheryl Johnson in July, and they now reside in Richmond Heights, Mo. while Lee attends Washington University Law School in St. Louis. Cheryl attended Smith.

Jeff North too has fallen, to Miss Diane Falkenbury (New York State University at Potsdam '65). They enlisted Andy Gundlach as an usher. They are living in Bloomington, Minn., where Jeff is with Owens-Corning Fiberglass.

Mike Naramore, now a second lieutenant in the Army, has married Miss Terry Talbert.

Wah Wah Walsh spent the summer touring Eastern Europe on a fellowship from Columbia, and has recently been awarded a Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development Fellowship in urban studies. Brian is a grad student in urban studies at Columbia.

John Drake received his MBA from Harvard in June, and is now with Gray Advertising in New York. He and his wife Linda are living in Greenwich Village.

George Hill, who had been sales rep with General Foods, is now an Associate Research Executive at Opinion Research, Inc. in Princeton, N. J. George is married to the former Martha Edwards, and they have two children, Judith and Matthew.

Dartmouth was sizably in town in Ridgewood, N.J., in June for the wedding of TomClarke '66 and Gretchen Van Emburgh.
