Now that we're deep in the heart of the winter season, and presently some of you may be relaxing comfortably before a roaring fire after a great afternoon on the slopes or skating ponds, while those of yon in warmer climates may be resting your limbs after a tremendous round of golf or a stimulating session on the courts, let me jog your minds around to the cruel fact that it s about time to put your nose to the grindstone and get those income taxes figured out. The inspiration for this constructive thought stems from an article which came to my desk concerning Jack Newkirk, an accountant and tax expert with the too Newkirk and Newkirk of Scituate and West Yarmouth, Mass. Jack recently addressed the Cape Cod Board of Realtors about taxes relative to real estate transactions.

Taxes of course are often a by-product of successful investing, and one of our members in the investment counseling business is Jim Hotchkiss of Hinsdale, Ill., who is a partner and vice president of Stem, Roe & Farnham, a Chicago-based firm. The acquisition and handling of income-producing assets is not Jim's only concern, however for we're pleased to report his recent installation on the board of trustees of Alice Lloyd College, a Kentucky institution located in Pippa Passes.

Should figuring out where that spot is located prove to be a problem, have RichardH. Vaughan get out the maps at the Werner Transportation Company in Minneapolis. He recently was elected a director of that firm. But call Dixie at the Northwestern National Bank of Minneapolis, where he commands a vice presidential role.

Also newly elected to an educational institution's board of trustees is Frank L. Harrington Jr., who is serving on the board of Pine Manor Junior College, now located in Chestnut Hill, Mass., on a new campus, a few miles east of its former Wellesley location. This is but a short drive from the Worcester headquarters of the Paul Revere Life Insurance Company, of which Frank is president.

Another life insurance man in our ranks is Richard J. Arnold of Somerville, N. J., who has been awarded the CLU designation by the American College of Life Underwriters. Dick also has studied financial management at the New York University Graduate School of Business.

In the same line of endeavor, Charles H. Wilkinson of Longmeadow, Mass., has been named assistant underwriting secretary of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. Charlie also serves on the board of directors of the Springfield Red Cross and is a board member and an incorporator of Micah, Inc.

Residing not far away, in Lenox, Mass., is Dick Sitzer who recently was appointed manufacturing manager of Mead Corporation's Technical Papers Division, which is headquartered in South Lee where a new plant is scheduled for construction. Dick formerly was general manager of Hurlbut Papers, a unit of the division.

In New York Alex Hoffman has been named vice president and general manager of Bristol-Myers Products' Grove Division, which markets such nationally known brands as Ipana Toothpaste, Mum deodorants, Nodoz, and 4-Way cold products. Alex joins the company from Lever Brothers where he had been merchandising manager in the household products division and also had considerable advertising experience. Prior to that he spent nine years at Compton Advertising, Inc. as account executive on Procter & Gamble and the Schick Safety razor accounts.

Another promotion involves that of JohnL. Coffman, who now holds the U.S. Marine Corps rank of lieutenant colonel. Jack is executive assistant and Marine Aide to the assistant secretary of the Navy; the Coif mans are living in Alexandria, Va.

In Philadelphia, specifically at 1604 Girard Trust Building, the firm of which TomRinge is a partner will henceforth be known as Ringe and Tate, according to an announcement just received.

Speaking of announcements, it's high time we mentioned a new arrival in the family of Nicholas Costes; Constantine Nicholas was born on May 2, 1966. Nick received his Ph.D. in Engineering in 1965, and is associated with the NASA-Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., where he is a member of the Technical and Scientific staff of the Director, Space Sciences Laboratory. Home is 206 Utica Place, Huntsville; recently the Costes had a wonderful six-week vacation in Greece which included a visit to the paternal grounds in Athens and a tour of several of the lovely islands in the Aegean Sea.

And there is a newcomer in the Leo Appel family in Portsmouth, N. H. Meliss delivered daughter #3, named Gretchen, last June. Leo is very busy as the local Buick dealer of the community.

Back to the vacation bit, here's a lucky guy who not only got off to Acapulco, Mexico, for another winter of painting, sunshine, and beachcombing, but had his dad forward his class dues to Rick Miller. The fortunate soul is J. Frank Moulton, who apparently prefers a Latin climate to Hanover winters. His father, F. G. Moulton '20, lives in Littleton.

Posting some of the recent address changes now, we find two in Chatham, N. J., where Richard H. Bill, sales manager of the American Heat Reclaiming Corp., has moved to 114 Huron Drive, while Al bert O. Rust has relocated at 37 Meyersville; Al is director of the evening division of Fairleigh Dickinson University. WallaceD. Willett has moved up from the deep south, so your dots and dashes now can be blinked to him at 732 Signal Light Road, Moorestown, N. J. 08057.

In Norristown, Pa. 19403, Charlie Lake reports moving to 8 Revere Circle. Up in the Empire State, John H. O'Keefe of Bontecou Road, Millbrook, N. Y. 12545 is joining with Leo Appel in trying to push General Motors stock up. John is president of O'Keefe Cadillac-Olds in Millbrook.

Terrance F. Guider has made a local move in Suffern, N. Y. 10901, to 25 West Gate Road. Richard B. Sullivan's new spot is 43 Sherry Hill Lane, Manhasset, N. Y. 11030, while in the big city Stanley I. Nelson is receiving his mail at 55 East 87th Street, N. Y., N. Y. 10028. Stan was married on September 11 to Karen G. Kriendler; best man was his brother Melvin '47, while the ushers included Gene Bokor '46 and Dave Krivitsky.

Spif Kerivan has been appointed vice president of the Transportation, Equipment and Appliance Materials (TEAM) Division of Owens-Corning Fiberglas International. He will be moving to Toledo from Detroit where he has been vice president of the firm's Central Sales Region since 1965. After enrolling in Corning's trainingprogram in 1950, he served as branch manager in Boston and in Detroit, and in 1964 was named Central Region Manager. He and Jane have three children.

A New Jersey reunion of '5O families atLarry and Eleanor Batty's included theirthree children, Jim and Terry Harms withfour, Jay and Marion Wilcox with eight, and Jerry and Pixie Menzel with three.
