Sometimes before I sit down to write these notes, I wonder what changes in our classmates lives have transpired during the month that would be interesting. As I scan the information I have assembled by various means during the month, I discover that the great diversity of our classmates creates much which is of interest to us all and it is engrossing to assemble and record this information every month.

I received a note from Herb Standen relating that his fourth son, named Scott Martin, was born Dec. 11. Jane will be busy raising four boys. Herb is assistant headmaster at Emerson School in Exeter, N. H., and is looking forward to our reunion on June 16 and 17.

If we had initiated a "1948 of the Month" award, certainly Jack Tracy would have received it for January 1967. Jack was installed as President of the Worcester Area Chamber of Commerce at a very impressive black-tie dinner on January 17 at which Sen. Saltonstall was the keynote speaker. Jack, one of the leading young lawyers in Worcester, reviewed the Senator's life and presented him with the Great Living Baystater Award during the evening while acting as Master of Ceremonies. I am sure Jack will contribute greatly to the progress of the prosperous Worcester area during his term of office this year.

Before leaving the Boston area I want to mention that Charlie and Marilyn McCarthy moved to another home in North Andover where they will have a little more room for their growing family which numbered six last I heard. Charlie is vice-president of the Hamel Leather Company, a tannery.

About this time of the year I always think it is a good idea to give our classmate WaltSchubert a little plug as his place sounds like just what we all need, especially those in the Chicago area. Walt runs the Cape Santa Maria Club on Long Island, Bahamas. The Club has guest cottages on a beautiful beach and Walt takes people out deep-sea fishing on his boat "Sea Witch." Sounds pretty enticing, doesn't it? Drop Walt a note for the details if you're interested.

Any of you down in Florida this winter might visit Dr. Jack Mahoney in Fort Lauderdale. Jack practices orthopedic surgery and has five others practicing the same specialty with him as a group. Jack and Marilyn have six children including four boys and two girls.

After successfully managing the Accounting Department of Fram in East Providence, Warren Tharion has now become controller for Avid Inc., a very fast-growing company located in the same town. Avid has a division called Travelab, which produces the classrooms on wheels, a new concept in education. With the increasing flow of Government funds into education, the company should continue to prosper. Warren and Rose have four daughters, their eldest Karen now eighteen.

I am sure Dartmouth men have studied in many unusual places while pursuing their degree, but Jere Poole writes he is about to complete his course for a master's degree in business administration given by Ohio State. However, Jere is not at Ohio State but Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota where he is a captain in the Air Force assigned to the 44th Strategic Missile Wing as a Minuteman Combat Crew Commander. Jere studies while in the silos 60 feet below ground on 24-hour tours of duties under a program arranged by the Air Force. He won't have his concentration disturbed down there anyway, so what other excuse can we think up for not getting an A. Jere and Dee have a daughter Amy, now five, a son Jere Jr., almost two, and are expecting their third any minute.

Congratulations to Al and Dottie McKee on the marriage of their daughter Brenda on Feb. 25 to Frank Good. Brenda graduated from Endicott Jr. College last June.

I hope all of you watch ABC News regularly because Bing Aspinwall is Washington, D. C., manager of TV News for that network. Bing accompanied President Johnson on his Far East trip last fall directing and coordinating all the various activities for the news coverage for ABC on the trip. Bing says it was very exciting assignment.

Just received word Ed and Ella Gingrich will be up from Atlanta for reunion. DickBarlow reports all arrangements completed and the biggest crowd ever planning to be in Hanover, June 16, 17, 18. Look forward to seeing all of you then, but don't forget to make necessary arrangements now because this is one you won't want to miss.
