Having recently received the first mailing from Lou Perry, I am reminded that it is time for the Alumni Fund effort. "48 should be able to make its quota without affecting its Third Century Fund drive and I urge each one of you to carefully consider whether you are doing as much as you can to put us over the top."

Al Clark recently wrote with news of his family. Al is head of the math department at Ware High School in Ware, Mass. Julie teaches science at North Brookfield so they are a busy family. Congratulations to Julie who just became a grandmother, their middle son having added a granddaughter to the clan. I suppose that almost makes Al a grandfather! I have no record of how the class stands with regard to grandparenthood - probably a statistic better left unrecorded. Al is involved in many activities and among others he acts as secretary of the Barre Kiwanis Club and is a candidate for Lt.-Governor of Division 14, he is president of the Barre Players and is active in the American Legion, advisor to the Vikiwigi Lodge.

Larry Brisbin sent an interesting clipping about Jack Bobbitt. Larry bottles and distributes Royal Crown Cola from Huntington, W. Va. He and Joan have four children and are enthusiastic tennis players among other activities.

Jack Bobbitt is a urologist and co-founder of the Bobbitt-Horwood Clinic in Huntington, W. Va. Jack was elected to the state legislature in 1967 and resigned in the closing hours of the 59th legislature because he felt the legislature had acted irresponsibly' Jack gave as a reason "My personal sense of intellectual honesty, my understanding of what is best for my native West Virginia, are in conflict with the events of these past few Weeks." whether or not one is in agreement with his legislators it is refreshing to see one take an unequivocal stand. Jack and Jeanne have three children and live in Huntington.

while we are on political matters, we note that Joe Logan was running for town moderator in Hadley, Mass. Joe is purchasing manager for Cheney Bigelow Wire Works. Joe and Doris have four children, all of whom are in Hopkins Academy. He is curently on a P T.A. Conservation Committee, and is past commander and manager of the baseball team of the Hadley American gion Post.

"pete Norton has a new job: vice president of eastern sales for Midland Glass Company, Inc. He will work out of their corporate headquarters in Cliffwood, N. J., although they also have plants in Terre Haute, Ind., and Shakopee, Minn. His experience with sales in the glass container industry is extensive, and most recently he was New York sales manager of the Thatcher Glass Company. Presumably he and Myra and their seven children will continue to live in Elberon, N. J. .

Charlie Herterich has been a partner in the law firm of Davies, Hardy, Loeb, Austin and Ives in New York City for the past six vears. He specializes m wills estates and trusts and is also a trustee of the Wilson School and Mountain Lakes, N. J. Charlie and Jacqueline have two daughters and make their home in Morristown, N. J. Charlie reports that the practice of the law is more than a full-time occupation and leaves little time for other activities.

I mentioned Nat Merrill recently but I hope all of you had a chance to read the March 14th issue of "Time" which had a feature article on Nat in the Music section.

Lou Clarke is practicing medicine in Springfield, Mass., specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. Lou and Ann have three sons and two daughters. They have a cottage at Lake Sunapee which provides a good base for summer activities, skiing, and attendance at Dartmouth football games.

Bill and Alice Cummings took a week's vacation this winter and skied at Stowe, Vt. Bill advises that all five children skied undaunted by the most difficult trails. Eyen their nine-year-old zooms on ahead of him. Their oldest son and daughter are in high school with Pete on both the soccer and the ski teams. Bill is staff anesthesiologist at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mass., and is also busy with the Inhalation Therapy Department.

John Van Raalte has received the good news that his son, John Jr., has been accepted at Exeter next year. Hopefully, this means that we will be seeing more of John and Barbara in the future. They have skied a lot at Stowe this winter with the three, boys doing very well and even their five-year-old daughter Andrea coming down from the top of the mountain.

George and Mary Woods of Franklin, Mass., had a treat this year when their daughter Donna gave them a wedding anniversary present of a trip to Hanover for the Winter Carnival. Donna, who was born in 1948, realized that her parents' anniversary coincided with the start of Carnival so she arranged the surprise through Ron Campion '55. Tickets to all athletic and musical events and a full round of fraternity parties made it the best carnival yet!
