It would appear that the Florida rallying of 1905 men and women of the Clearwater Beach area would almost rival what we may expect to find at our regular July reunion in Hanover. To Roger Brown belongs the credit for managing these pleasant affairs.
As Roger reports, the first was held at the Beachcomber, Clearwater Beach, on March 5. The '05 group consisted of Bill and Dorothy Blatner, John and Lucy Bell, Roger and Jane Brown, Fred Chase and Cy and Hilda White. They were disappointed that C.C, Hills and Leon Smith with his wife were not able to join them. Present also were representatives of four other classes: one from '04, eight and a friend from '07, and two each from 'OB and '10. The names of these will probably be found in their respective columns.
The second gathering was a strictly '05 affair with the same people as listed above and with the addition of Herford and Priscilla Elliott. These were very happy, if small, events. Those of us who were not able to join in these festivities hope to see you in Hanover next July (date not known at present).
The big event of that part of Florida was the annual Sarasota Dartmouth Club meeting on March 14. Ort Hicks '21, always interesting, was the speaker to the unusually large gathering of 91 men and women. Roger and Jane Brown and Cy and HildaWhite represented 1905. Of our period, 1907 had three men present: Brown, Kenyon and Sprague.
Not all of our numbers have escaped from the rigors of this winter - and we mean rigors! - here in the north by taking refuge in Florida. The Campbells at last account were still in Hawaii. Camp had fortunately so far recovered from the operation, reported in our February notes, that they had been able to make the trip and, as they write, enjoy their grandchild, "some boy."
It was good to hear from Ed Richardson that, though he had had a setback in his recovery from his hip fracture, he was again regaining strength and feeling much better. We hope that by this time you are fully recovered, Ed, and able to walk with ease. At the time of writing, Ed said that Ned Estes was busy in his musical duties in preparation for Good Friday and Easter. Good for you, Ned.
