Rudi Haerle will return to Middlebury College next fall as an associate professor and chairman of the Sociology-Anthropology department. He is currently senior research sociologist and project director at the Center For Urban Education in New York City. Rudi received both his Master's and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He and his wife Helen have five daughters.

Dr. Hugh Bush has opened an office for the practice of General Surgery in Windsor Locks, Conn. Hugh has been practicing in Hartford and will continue affiliations with several Hartford hospitals.

Gene Gabianelli has been made a partner in the St. Louis law firm of Lewis, Rice, Tucker, Allen and Chubb. Gene has been associated with the firm for the past eight years. Marty and Sally DeGennaro added a daughter, Helen Wallace, to their growing family. Because of Helen, they are in the process of moving into a larger home. After July 1 they'll be in Woodbridge, Conn.

State Mutual Life Assurance Company of America, Worcester, Mass., announced the promotion of Fred Fedeli to director, special investments branch and assistant treasurer. Fred joined State Mutual in 1957. He is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society. Also in the insurance industry is Roger Warner who has been named agency manager at the Allen town, Pa., office of Travelers Insurance Company. Rog previously had been agency manager of Travelers' Scranton office.

Press clippings advise me of two Classmate lecturers: Dr. Buzz D'Avanco and Eric Van Schaack. Buzz is an associate professor of English at Providence College. He was guest speaker of the Catholic Literary Guild and discussed "The Direction of the American Novel." Buzz has been Fulbright lecturer in American Literature at the University of Teheran, Iran, and has just had a book published on the poet Keats. Eric is assistant professor of Fine Arts, Goucher College. He spoke on "Van Dyck: Legend and Reality" at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Eric studied in Italy in 1962-63 under a Fulbright travel grant and is the author of several books and articles on Seventeenth Century Italian Art.
