According to a cryptic clipping from Hanover, Nate Burkam is no longer connected with Schwartz & Frolich, but has his office at home. Home for Nate is 160 East 48 Street in New York City and evidently Nate has started his own practice. Other short notes from Hanover tell me that Ed Klima has moved to La Jolla, Calif., and is a professor at the University of California. TomSong has a new address in New Haven. The note says he is at Yale, but does not mention the specifics.
Bill (William T.) Smith is in New York now as an attorney with Texaco. Bill has been in the Cleveland area for as long as I can remember and I was quite surprised to see the announcement of his move.
Bob and Linda Douglass announced the birth of a second son, Andrew Behan, born on February 8. Jack and Lucille Morris beat them by a few days with their fourth son and sixth child, Edward Matthew, born January 18.
Pete Patterson has a new address at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He's a Lieutenant Colonel in the Medical Corps and has just finished the Army's six-month Advanced Course at the Medical Field Service in San Antonio. Now he's been selected to attend the Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth.
Among the 22 holders of degrees from Dartmouth who were awarded the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst were Charley Fleet, Russ Cook,Dick Lombard, and John Corcoran. The designation was made by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts which was organized to promote professional standards among persons who analyze stocks and bonds for investments. A course of study and series of examinations must be completed before receiving the award. Russ Cook is an assistant vice president of Colonial Management Associates in Boston and lives in Manchester, Mass. Charley Fleet lives in Riverside, Conn., and is a vice president of Dominick, Inc.
John Corcoran is executive vice president of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jennette, Inc. This firm is one of the fastest growing firms on Wall Street and has become a major factor in the few years it's been in existence. When I opened last Sunday's New York Times Business section, John's picture was on page one in connection with an article about the shape of the market. Another fast-growing firm is Lombard, Vitalis and Paganucci, Inc., Dartmouth's answer to Merrill Lynch. As most of you know, Dick Lombard, PaulPaganucci, and Bill Vitalis founded the firm six or seven years ago. I remember visiting them when they first started and their entire office consisted of one room which the three of them shared with one secretary. I had the opportunity to visit them last month and was amazed at the difference. They now occupy half an office floor at 111 Broadway and have dozens of employees.
Reunion time is drawing closer and the turnout looks better than ever. Hope to see you June 21-23 in Hanover.
