The class executive committee met in Hanover on October 12. In addition to President Frank Ettari, the following members were present: Messrs. Barnet, Cole, DeStefano, Hunt, Kimball. Lee, Lynch, Moats, Murtha, O'Neil, Smith and Weld. Among other matters considered was the adoption of a special charge which appears on the class dues notice, the proceeds of which will be used to fund the class's obligation to present memorial books to the College in honor of our deceased classmates. The committee hopes that this program will receive widespread support, not only this year but in the future. Dave Weld reported on the planning for the 25th reunion, and Jim O'Neil reported on the results of the 1968 Alumni Fund Drive.
Following the meeting, the Class held an informal reunion at the Kimballs before the Princeton game; and our generous host and hostess invited the class back for a Dutchtreat cookout for dinner that evening. While I was unable to get to Hanover myself, the following were reported to have been on the scene: the Jack Rankins, Don McAllisters, Dale Van Otterens, Jim von Rohrs, and Jack Whitmans. Except for the outcome of the game, I understand it was an excellent weekend.
As many of you know. Bob Kimball was one of ten survivors of a Northeast Airlines crash just outside of Hanover in late October. Jackie Kimball assures me that he is recovering nicely from the injuries he received and will be back in action before long. I know I speak for all of Bob's classmates when I say how thankful we are for his good fortune and hope that he will be back pursuing his many Hanover activities in the near future.
I regret to have to report that another classmate, Dick Searles, lost his life in this tragic accident. The Class extends its deepest sympathy to his family.
Ed Brunhoff reports that he was married in early October to Bonnie Lee Storch, and that they are back in Ada, Mich., following a honeymoon trip in the Islands. Congratulations, Ed, and please try to get back to Hanover with your new bride.
