Brad Morehouse's law firm was recently merged with another Bridgeport firm, and he is now a partner of Bulkley, Hilgendorff, Williams and Smith which has offices both in Bridgeport and Southport. Brad and his family live in Fairfield where he has been active in many civic and charitable activities.
Jim Barnet was recently appointed general manager of the Colton Company, a division of Gillette. Jim was previously a vice president of Shulton, Inc. and president of Aerosol Corporation of America. The Barnets continue to live in New Jersey.
Dan Ruggles of Montpelier, currently a state senator, recently announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor. In addition to being a member of the Class of 1946, Dan attended the University of Denver and graduated from Babson Institute. I received a long and interesting letter from Bob Jones who is U.S. consul and cultural affairs officer in Pakistan. He reports in part as follows: "I don't report in very often but as my tour in Pakistan draws to a close I wish to greet all my friends in the class. Rosemary and I both regretted the inability of attending the 20th reunion but were pleased to read all about it and to look at the photos of the events. Thanks for going to all the trouble of getting those pictures out to those of us who couldn't be there.
"We have been in Pakistan since 1965 with our five children (Debbie 13, Kathleen 12, Bobby 10, Tina 9, and Steve 7) and have enjoyed it immensely. The kids are doing well in school and we have managed to do some travelling as well, including such places as Swat, Kabul, Feshawar, Dacca, New Delhi, Agra, Bangkok, Penang, Singapore, etc. I am still driving my 1959 VW microbus and it has taken us faithfully to many destinations with few problems, including up through the Khyber Pass and Kabul Gorge into Afghanistan. That little aircooled engine is a sub-continent traveler's dream.
"As U.S. Consul and Cultural Affairs Officer with U.S.I.S., I have been in charge of several types of activities, among them the student exchange program, cultural presentations program, university and college contact program and the international visitors program (the latter a program of exchange of specialists between the two countries). We have had the pleasure of meeting and programming many fine people under these various activities, including the Charlie Byrd Quartet; the Reserve Davis Cup Team; the Indiana University and Georgia State College Jazz Bands; several folk groups; Dr. Stephen Bailey, Dean of the Maxwell School at Syracuse; Prof. Alfred McClung Lee, the distinguished sociologist; Dr. Paul Dudley White; and many others. Recently, my first Dartmouth man came through. He was Professor John Harvey '42, Dean of Graduate School of Library Science at Drexel Institute in Philadelphia, who is teaching at Teheran University this year and came to Lahore to deliver some lectures. A fine man who is doing some valuable work in organizing library programs in Iran.
"After ten years on the faculty at St. Joe's College in Philadelphia teaching about international relations and politics, it has been a fascinating experience to finally have the opportunity to participate in our foreign operations. We are looking forward to home leave this summer and to a new assignment in New Delhi. The sub-continent has gotten into our blood and there is still so much to learn in order to have a reasonable understanding and relationship with both the Pakistanis and Indians that we are happy to have additional time in this part of the world."
This winds up the year as far as this writer is concerned. Have a great summer and send me plenty of news of your activities so that I can get started again in September bringing you up to date on the travels and activities of our far-flung class.
