An interesting article in the Washington Post brings us up-to-date on the activities of Charlie Duncan who, as many of you know, is corporation counsel for the District of Columbia. Charlie was appointed to this important post by the Justice Department in January of 1967. As the chief law officer of the District, he serves as city solicitor, state's attorney, and attorney general. The report of Charlie's first year in office indicates that he has done an outstanding job and has accomplished much to change the somewhat archaic policies and procedures which had grown up under the old form of government for the District. After leaving Dartmouth, Charlie graduated from Harvard Law School and has had an active career in private practice and various governmental positions.

Ed Kosmo has risen to group vice president for Sheller-Globe Corporation in a move by that company to coordinate divisions in two areas of growth. Ed will be in charge of four divisions producing dies, metal stampings, and fiber glass-reinforced plastic products for the automotive, appliance, electronics, construction and farm equipment industries, with plants in Toledo and Wauseon, Ohio. He joined the company in 1961 as a management engineer.

Harold Frank was recently promoted to the position of vice president and general merchandising manager for Abraham and Straus, a division of Federated Department Stores. Bill Spoor has added responsibility for Pillsbury Company's European operations to those in Latin America, Canada and the Pacific. The company last month consolidated all of its international activities into a single division under the direction of Bill, whose new title is vice president, international division. He had been divisional vice president of the export division since 1962 and has also served as director for both the American-Arab Association for Commerce and Trade, and the Flour Millers Export Association.

Sandford Gottlieb recently participated in a program on Viet Nam sponsored by the Library Arts Center in Newport, N. H. Sandford is the political action director of the National Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy. In addition to his activities with SANE, he has been involved in various activities in seeking a peaceful settlement to the Viet Nam war, including making arrangements for the delivery of mail to United States prisoners held by the Viet Cong.

Al Trowsdale is moving south to take charge of the exclusive import of Don Q Rums from Puerto Rico, a winning combination of location and product. He has been named vice president and general manager of Don Q Imports, Inc., which was recently acquired by Heublein, Inc., and will make his headquarters in Miami. Al joined Heublein's as a marketing analyst 12 years ago, after eight years as a salesman and manager in wholesale paper merchandising, and most recently had been manager of marketing and sales administration for the company's Arrow Division.

Bob Levinson was recently elected chairman of Duplan Corporation, manufacturers of textured and stretch yarns. In addition to his association with Duplan, Bob is an owner of Ivanhoe Securities, Ltd., a New York investment firm, and a director and former vice president of Bangor-Punta Corporation.

Miscellaneous notes from here and there: Roger Butler was recently elected a director and clerk of Heritage Bank and Trust Company, a new bank in Westfield, Mass. BobScheu of Buffalo was recently elected a director of Sage Laboratories, Inc. Bill White of Wilmette, Ill., has been named vice president of Consolidated Foods Corporation in addition to his previous position of director.
