By the time the stalwarts of '46 read this column, here will be but thirty short days left to the one and only "Big One in 71." You'd better believe that big things are stirring for the class. At this juncture, we are closing in on an all-time attendance record for a returning 25th class with almost 900 in hand, total family members. Due to the monumental efforts of JakeWhitman, Stan Feldberg, and JimO'Neil and his nationwide network, we are less than $100,000 away from an all time high for a 25-year class giving.
Your reunion chairman, Dave Weld reported to the Executive Committee on April 3 of June plans. Frank Ettari, Class President, Ralph Smith, Bob Hunt, WaltSnickenberger, Earl Angstadt, MushJudson, Reg Pierce, Jim O'Neil, BillShulting, Stan Feldberg, Jake Whitman,Tom Burnap were on hand.
The Annual Dartmouth Alumni Dinner was held at the Commodore on March 24, at which time the Class of '46 presented to the Dartmouth Alumni Club of NYC the Aud Brindley Attendance Cup. Aud's wife Velma was on hand to present the cup in memory of her husband, who was an inspiring leader in the class of '46. On hand for the class were Jim and Part O'Neil, Dave and Jean Weld, Jim and Arie Lynch, Senator Frank Guarini, Bob and Connie Albrecht, Reg and Nancy Pierce, Frank and Pat Ettari, Bill Schulting, Bob, Jackie and Susie Kimball, Ralph and Ann Smith.
NOW IT'S OUT IN THE OPEN—the challenge of the frontier has brought Regand Nancy Pierce back to Hanover for good. They have recently purchased Ashley's (Keenes) in Etna and will be the proud owners July 1. This will give returning classmates a permanent friendly lodging place for years to come. Congratulations!
Dave and Ruth Chalmers write "many thanks for all the giant post cards from the hills of New Hampshire to the shores of the Virgin Islands. They finally jarred me loose to organize a week away from drilling dry holes. I have dutifully forwarded my 'blue book' biography to Reg and I'm looking forward to the big event."
That's it for now. I do hope all '46ers who are returning in June will look over the lists of those who have not signified "yes" and give them a call or see them in person. These are wonderful days for '46. Best, DAVE WELD.
George Hilton recently wrote to claim that he was probably the last man in the class to get married (for the first time). He and Phyllis Bartlett (Duke '57) were married in Monterey, Calif., last September and now live in Palo Alto. George is a professor of economics at UCLA and claims some sort of a record for commuting 400 miles from home to the office.
From New York comes news of Jim Kelley's promotion to vice president and manager of the Dallas office of Marine Office-Appleton and Cox Corporation, marine insurance underwriters. Jim was previously a vice president of Continental Insurance Company before transferring to its affiliate Moac in 1967. Before moving to the Dallas area, the Kelley's had lived in Summit, N. J.
Bill Schillhammer was recently promoted to chief medical director and head of the Medical Department of the National Life Insurance Co. of Vermont in Montpelier.
Jack Novascone writes that he is apparently living in Alameda, Calif., and is divisional marketing manager of the Simmons Company. The Novascone's have three children, Jill-16, Lynn-12 and Jim-8.
