Varsity track, dashing to its best summary in seasons with a 4-1 mark, added to winning Indian ways this spring as all sports posted a won-lost record of 74-56 and a .569 winning percentage. Varsity sports won 45, losing 37, while freshman athletes went 29-19.

Senior Bob Taringer, of Minnetonka, Minn., hockey and lacrosse goalie, was recently awarded The Dartmouth Cup. This annual award, established by TheDartmouth, is presented to the senior athlete who on and off the field reflects the greatest credit to the College.

Bob Thomas, captain and first baseman of the varsity nine, received the James Henry Cooke Trophy. A memorial to James Henry Cooke '40, the award is made annually to the athlete selected by the Faculty Committee on Athletics as having done the most for baseball at Dartmouth during his undergraduate years.

David Swift, of Exeter, N. H., captain of the heavyweight crew this season, was the recipient of the Thaddeus Seymour Rowing Award, presented to that undergraduate who during the year made the greatest contribution to rowing at Dartmouth.

All-American honors have been accorded to junior freestyle ace Terry Robinson and to two Indian swim relay teams — the 400 freestyle team of juniors Robinson, Stu Vance, senior Captain Brad Lindeblad and soph Fred Severance, and the 400 medley squad consisting of juniors Vance, Al Petersen and Mike Harvey, and soph Dave Johnson.

Varsity spring sports have elected their captains for next season as follows: Baseball, outfielder/catcher Terry Light '69, Palmyra, Pa.; lacrosse, defenseman Jeff Norton '69, Albany, N. Y.; tennis, Dave Burwell '69, Woods Hole, Mass.; and track, middle-distance star Mark Upton '69, Concord, N. H. Mark is the son of former track standout Fred Upton '39, who also worked under Coach Ellie Noyes at the College.
