A Tuck alumnus has been honored by his industry and we are delighted to share the news with his friends and associates. Charles J. Zimmerman T'24, chairman of the board of the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company, was feted at a banquet following his election to the Insurance Hall of Fame. I am sure this will be reported elsewhere in this issue, so will not go into further detail here. Congratulations from all.
Two more promotions at General Foods. Jack Pingel T'65 moved up to product manager in the cereals group, and John WeslarT'67 has recently been named an associate product manager in the Maxwell House division. Wilbur W. Bullen Jr. T'55 has been named vice president at the Olde Worcester Insurance Agency, Inc. of Boston. Allen H.Stowe T'61 has been promoted to vice president of the First Hanover Corporation in New York. Allen was formerly assistant to the president of this Wall Street firm.
Peter Paeschke T'67 is assistant to the vice president for business affairs at Tufts University. Peter was married in February and is now residing near the Tufts campus.
Ernest Roessler T'63 has been named assistant accounting officer at the Mellon National Bank and Trust Company in Pittsburgh. Ken Edelson T'51 has been named president of General Sportcraft Co., Ltd., national distributors of sports equipment and games. Ken was formerly with Campus Sweater and Sportswear Co. in Cleveland and moved to the New York firm in 1955 as an assistant vice president.
Dr. Harry P. Guenther T'56, who has been Dean of Georgetown University's School of Business Administration, has now resigned this post to return to writing and research. Harry went to Georgetown in 1964 as an associate professor and was promoted to dean in July 1966. He is an author and has taught at Indiana University, the University of Minnesota, and the American University of Beirut in Lebanon.
Robert A. Grady T'47 has been appointed vice president, retail, of the Knapp Brothers Shoe Corp. of Brockton, Mass. Bob joined Knapp in 1955 and served in several sales capacities until returning to headquarters in 1962 to head the retail group division. Also at Knapp Shoe, John Clayton T'52 has been appointed vice president, direct sales. John joined the company in 1955 as a sales trainee and was made east coast sales manager in 1959. Ed Falkenberg T'63 has been named chief accountant of Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc. John R. HungerfordT'54 has been named executive vice president and director of Southern Connecticut Gas Company. Previously employed by Southern Connecticut, John has been associated with the New York law firm of Sullivan and Cromwell as director of administration.
Frank C. Herringer T'65 has been elected a principal of Cresap, McCormick and Paget, Inc. Frank joined Cresap on graduation from Tuck and has worked on assignments both in the United States and abroad. Chris VanCuran T'sB has joined the BANCARDCHEK Division of First Financial Marketing Group Inc., as executive vice president. Chris was formerly an officer of the First National Bank of Boston where he worked closely with his present firm in developing the successful BANCARDCHEK program.
Dean John W. Hennessey Jr. has just returned from a ten-day trip to Istanbul. Turkey, where he worked with administrative officers at Robert College. The dean managed to spend a few days in Switzerland and Greece en route and has returned full of enthusiasm and vitality.
