Duck Boards. Thunk, twak, thunk, twak, thunk, twak, sploosh. The season of shlump has once again invaded Hanover Town and soiled Mom Nature's white crystalline gown. Yup, time for the March lamb to pull the wool over the lion's eyes, for G.E.'s 275 watt tan to start replacing your carefully nurtured barroom pallor, for the last sowing of corn snow, for bets to be placed on the Conn. River's annual thaw, and for me to start relating your latest conquests.
Burning all that midnight oil finally paid off for Tom Mastroberardino. Tom was recently promoted to cargo sales rep., ESSO International (N.Y.C.). When not cleaning windshields, Tom will be responsible for international sales activities involving crude oil and petroleum products produced by ESSO affiliates. After graduation, Tom joined the Linden organization of Humble Oil as an engineer and served as head of the economics group in the Coordination and Planning Div. Tom, wife Charlene, and two young 'uns currently reside in Summit, N. J.
The Samuel Cabot Co. of Boston, internationally known for its Cabot Wood-Preserving Stains has discovered the correct solution for bridging the "generation gap." They just liberally apply a fourth generation Cabot - Sam Cabot III. Before joining the family firm, Sam spent two years with the Peace Corps in Chile, attended B.U. Biz School, and worked with two local Boston banks. However, Sam leaves diaper changes on young Sammie (see January column) solely to wife Rosa.
Rick Hashagen recently cashed in his previous experience with First Nat'l Bank of Rochester, N. Y., and Chase Manhattan for a nifty return. Rick's been promoted from ass't. cashier/credit manager to ass't. V.P. of Vermont Nat'l Bank, Brattleboro. The Boro of Brattle is also where Rick, wife and two little shavers presently call home.
The dues and knots that make an "All-American" Boy Scout: bravery, cleanliness, cheerfulness, thriftiness, kindness, Apple Pie, for Mom, Country and Dog. Congratulations, Dave Smoyer, you finally made it. Dave's been elected to the Executive Board of the Quinnipiac Council, Boy Scouts of America. Dave's other merit badges include: associate director, Yale Athletic Dept., admin, ass't. to the president of the North American Soccer League, and a law degree from Harvard. Ready. Two!
Computer a little punchy? Why not ask John Hancock M.L.I. Boston's new senior systems analyst for a session. Scott Babcock's promotion makes him responsible for the coordination and development of new group accident and health claim processing systems in group systems development. Group "therapy" is nothing new to Scott. Back at the turn of the decade, Scott and wife Marsha ventured to Center Effingham, N. H., to join Steve and Nancy Scott, Barryand Allyson Blackwell, Barney, the black Labrador Retriever and yours truly with date Miss Lauree McMahon at the S. Scott's new 18th century farm house - the former Al Humphreys' place. The gathering was the biggest event featured in the Carroll County News in years according to local reporter, Miss Clarissa Taylor, age 83. Ay yah.
Time to ring a few chimes - of the wedding/engagement variety. A Rose by any other name probably would have been called Miss Margie Stanley. That is, until she became John Rose's wife. John, a lawyer with Ribicoff-Hotkin (Hartford), and Margie were married in December, 1969. I've heard tell that Rick Van Mell fell for a belle bell named Miss Marjorie Astley-Bell, Northwestern and U. Chicago grad. Rick's project manager for the terminals division of the General American Transportation Corp., Chicago. Marjorie's a commercial artist. And how about Andy Camell? (But let's say to 'ell with this "L" stuff) This summer Andy's marrying Miss Denis Dewart, Vassar grad and high school music teacher who's working for her master's. Andy's director of the evening division and ass't. director of admissions at Albany Business College. Best wishes, one and all.
As most of you probably know on March 1, 1970, President Dickey retired and was ably replaced by former Prof. John G. Kemeny. To President Dickey the Class of 1963 extends its thanks for his listening ear, dedicated will, creative energy, inquiring mind and open heart - the stuff great men are made of. To President Kemeny the Class of 1963 extends its congratulations, its loyal support, its backs of Green, and an open hand. Excelsior!
