One of the special pleasures of this column is the opportunity to carry on with classmates' wives. Carry on correspondence, that is. There are several advantages - wives being generally more accurate, more interesting, better spellers, and of course lots prettier. A recent case in point is a letter from Tim Reed's Joan, from Quito, Ecuador. Tim is resident vice president of First National City Bank's operation there, running seven branch offices with two more opening soon. Joan writes, "Our life is busy and interesting; still have our four boys at home, although our eldest son, Peter, will enter Lawrenceville in the fall. His sister, Melissa, is at the Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. We can't believe that in three years we will be sending a child to college! We are building a home in Arcadia, Mich., for home-leave purposes, should be great fun, once we are over the difficulties of construction at a distance of 5,000 miles . . . although, perhaps it's easier! . . . you just take out a mortgage and hope! Quito is a great spot, and the welcome mat, 'con lomo fino,' is always out!"

George Haigh has become vice president-operations of DeVilbiss, a division of Champion Spark Plug Co. George was formerly vice president-international; in his new position he will direct activities of research and engineering, manufacturing, technical planning, administrative services, and purchasing, as well as international activities.
