Don't know how many of you received a copy of the Bulletin, written by President Kemeny, dated April 25, but we suggest you try to obtain one if you're not on the mailing list. It contains a brief but thorough explanation of many of the things going on in Hanover, including Eddie Chamberlain's dilemmas in estimating how many coeds will accept admission (and the interesting housing problems that relate to that one!), tenure for faculty members (in particular female professors), ROTC (to be thoroughly reviewed after disengagement from Vietnam), expert studies of financial planning (including tuition deferment programs), etc. A reading of this interesting periodical can only confirm one's confidence that Dartmouth has the right man on the job.
Incidentally, as also mentioned by the president, if you can use an intelligent and diligent young person in your firm, during the summer or for a three-month or sixmonth period at any time later on, please contact Mr. Harland W. Hoisington Jr., Coordinator, Dartmouth Plan Office, Hanover, N. H. 03755. You'll notice we said "person"—either gender available.
Congratulations to Dick Young who has been appointed president of Polaroid Corporation's International Division. This involves responsibility for overseas manufacturing, sales, marketing, and finance, and should keep him busy, since Polaroid sells its products in more than 150 countries, has sales subsidiaries in 14 countries, and operates plants in the U.K. and The Netherlands. Dick has been with Polaroid since 1962.
Buol Hinman reports that he had a typical fun breakfast recently with DaleArmstrong (whose promotion to v.p., sales of Eastern District for U. S. Steel we reported last month), Doc Eaton '49 and Fred Gieg '43. Buol and Joan enjoyed the hospitality of Mary and Walt Snickerberger and Harlan Brumsted at the Dartmouth-Cornell lacrosse game in April. Even Snick's muscles were unavailing in trying to put the frozen mustard onto a hot dog; Brumsted's ice fishing coat won the best-dressed award for the day.
Jim Dolan was admitted to the practice of law as a member of the New York bar late last year; he attended Albany Law School for two-and-one-half years, and completed the requirements by clerking with the law firm of Mudge, Rose, Guthrie and Alexander. Jim is associated with the commercial and industrial real estate brokerage firm of Alfred Barrett, in Stamford, Conn.; his wife, Elizabeth Anne, is dean of the recently-opened School of Nursing of Fairfield University.
To get a good job done, find a busy man. As if he didn't have enough roles. BillGraulty, executive vice president of The Connecticut Bank & Trust Co., has been elected to the board of Spencer Turbine Co.
And speaking of busy men, have you noticed how "Senator" Jim O'Neil has '46 on top and pulling away in our division of the Green Derby? Jim and his assistant agents have helped us all to realize that, although the participation index is useful and fun to crow over, when we've been out for a quarter of a century our contributions to the Alumni Fund should be realistic, both in terms of the College's need and our ability to contribute.
Keep those cards 'n' letters (and checks to the Alumni Fund!) rollin' in.
